i've been hovering around 2100-2400 points ever since i managed to get above 2000 points which was rather easy. much easier than i actually expected and it took me ~60 games to do it after i stopped fooling around playing doubs and trips and playing all kinds of non sense games.
the solution is 6p terminator games. or at least that's what worked fine for me. especially no card games. i love those. on almost every game i either managed to kill everybody or at least get 1-2 kills to break even or come up +/- a few points. but it takes a lot of time because no card games on a map with ~60 terits can lead to games lasting 50-60 or even more turns.
also i have tried my hand at escalating. whenever wacicha starts his open escalating games i join ~10-15 and manage to get a profit of ~100 points which is rather good considering i'm no expert at escalating and considering in those games there are many people with ranks below mine.
i guess the best way to climb ranks (assuming you are good) is to play 6p terminator escalating games against people of the same rank or higher on a map that you know perfectly.
let's analyze it:
a. why 6p? because there are a lot of points at stake, because there's a lot more tactic and fun.
b. why terminator? because even if you don't win the game you might eliminate another guy and thus end up ~even on points.
c. why escalating? because they take less time than flat rate or no cards. if you have a lot of free time and you can play 30+ games at the same time you can also go with no cards. i like no cards because they eliminate the luck factor of cards. never play flat rate. it's the card setting with the most luck involved.
d. why same rank or higher? because they are tougher opponents and thus the game is more fun but also because you don't risk a lot of points and by playing the best you improve your strategy.
e. why a certain map? well since we're talking about maximizing chances of profit it's best that you know the map to avoid making mistakes.
this is not the perfect solution. to be honest there is no such thing as a perfect solution. it works for some and it fails miserably for others.
other alternatives are playing a lot of singles freestyle games against noobs and take advantage of the fact that they don't know how freestyle works. or play doubs or trips with the same partners on the same map and same settings and if it is freestyle and you guys know how to coordinate simultaneous turn taking then you can kick serious ass.
probably the easiest solution is triples freestyle with same partners. you get a few points per win but by sheer coordination you can attain wining percentages of 80% or even higher.
