freestyle question

I'd like to know what I'm getting into before I enter one. If I'm playing a freestyle, Casual (24 hours) game, does everyone make their moves and movement take place in real time? For example, if I enter into a game an hour after it starts, could I already be emliminated from countries before I have put down my first armies? or perhaps everyone makes their moves and everything happens after the last person is done?

everyone can move whenever they want...it is real time...once they attack stuff will happen...there is a chance that you will be eliminated before you can start, but this is only possible on doodle earth or another tiny map.
