Team Games

It always seems that in team games the higher ranking players are grouped up and the novices grouped up. This is obviously very unfair and creates unbalance. Is this by game design or just out of luck i've been getting?

If you were to go to the horse races. you sometimes bet on the horse with the longest odds. It is the same reasoning. Higher ranks are good, but they lose a lot more points than when the lower ranks lose points so I won 5 games and lost 1 and ended losing more points than I won as a team player.

LOL don't look at my score now I am a lowly Sargent but will be up to captain at least twice before Christmas

you only lose a few points playing really high ranked teams, so play a few watch their moves and if you can beat them once out of 5 sometimes, you can still come out ahead in points because of the handicap

also, ask a higher rank to teach you the ropes and if you follow very closely, youll be one soon

anyone who truly wants a higher rank, and knows how to play can get one....its just a matter of some work, skill and just a bit of luck...

I disagree. There might not be any in the rules that come with the game but there are team games in RISK. I have played many online when MSN Zone had Risk II, and I played team games with the board game.

Risk is one of those games where there are many different unwritten rules or variations of the game, depending on who you play the game with. We used to play if you didn't want to make an attack you could make 3 troops movements.

I aggree with AAFitz

Its true that lower ranking players playing the champs can gain more points by winning and lose less if defeated and vice versa for high rankers playing newbies. This is one of Lack's techniques of keeping everything fair in the gameplay.

I would also encourage newbies to play with the these higher ranking players and learn thier tactics and expertise. You can only learn from these players, more so then they can learn from you. Anyway, were here to play risk and have fun, and I would take skill over points and rank any day.

I played with Sky T once. Didn't make it much past the first couple of rounds. But that was awhile ago.
