Drops

Hey, i'm a new player. Was wondering if the army drops at the beginning of every game limits a player from starting with a whole continent, or is it truly random with no restrictions? Also, I think a game option allowing manual drops or manual reinforcement at the beginning of the game would be a good idea. I guess it would be difficult to co-ordinate with the 24 hour turn structure of this site, but what about for speed games?

it's truly random, and I think manual placements may be on the to-d list.
