I have a question about ettiquette.

Postby Packman on Fri Oct 19, 2007 7:03 pm

So, I was playing a speed game tonight. I am new to CC and I think this was my 3rd or 4th speed game. It was a three player game. All three players have 5 minutes to complete their turns and you all play at the same time. Early in the game I noticed that one of the players was using the clock to his advantage so near the end of the game I did the same. I was in a bad spot in the final two, down on cards, and territories. The other guy ended the round before so he couldn't go first. I used this to my advantage by allowing the clock to run down to just a little bit before I started my turn. I started my turn, earned a card, and time expired before he could wipe me off the board which he would have easily done given more time. I luckily got a set on three cards and was able to fight my way back into the game and eventually win. Is this against the rules or some kind of etiquette in a speed game?

Thanks for your input.

Its not aginst the rules but some will looks down upon it. Many people do do it but they often get Negative Feedbacks. Freestyle is also being fixed so that it isnt possible to do that. He will be able to tke his turn after 2.5 minutes.

its legal, but expect negative feedbacks for it because no one likes getting hit by it (hint: its like kicking someone in the balls)

"Early in the game I noticed that one of the players was using the clock to his advantage so near the end of the game I did the same."

What's fair game for one, should be fair game for all.

IMHO, the negative feedback from those who can't handle it is total BS and those players should quit joining freestyle games until they learn how to deal with it.

Feel free tobasco... you won't find me playing a 1v1 freestyle game anyway.

When you do find an example of me stooping so low as to cheat in any game please feel free to post it all over this forum. Until then you know where you can put put that unwarranted accusation.

if someone uses a slack tactic that is more than enough reason for a neg. End of discussion

I personally play very few freestyle games if at all... If I enter a freestyle game I personally expect all rules of freestyle to be used to a playrs advantage otherwise the rules should be changed... It is almost like signing a contract in my opinion, you know what to expect and what is allowed forget etiquette. Etiquette is if I tell someone there mother can suck my dick and he will die alone not if I wait till they've gone to bed to take my turn so I can use to my advantage.

Also in this particular case u said the guy earlier in the game did this... if that's the case then I see no problem.. I guess people like JohnnyRocket who leap on the unsuspecting new player and abuse the rules to their fullest is bad etiquette in my opinion but in general I see no problem and congrats on the win :)

i would say its aa part of freestyle game play and its exactly the reason i won`t play it, but thats all part of freestyle strategy. so i say wot u did is right.

Iliad "if someone uses a slack tactic" becomes the measuring stick for giving negative feedback, then all those high ranking point hors who set up public triples games would be liable as well. But beyond luck, tactics and strategy are the basics of play and taking advantage of the quirks of freestyle is one more tactic that is a part of the game.
