Is this true?

Postby firth4eva on Sun Sep 02, 2007 1:54 pm

It is not easy to develop and maintain an online game like Conquer Club. Hundreds of hours must be spent programming, and dollars must be spent on web hosting, support staff, and other expenses. Please support Conquer Club by upgrading to Premium Membership. It costs only $20 USD per year.

Do the mods get paid?

Why wouldn't they get free premium? Just take Death to All for example. He's played a total of 20 games, and he has a premium.

Yeah, Lack was nice enough to pay for our membership when we volunteered to help out. And DTA is his bro, so of course he isn't going to pay to play.

As far as money goes, well it really isn't your business if Lack pays us, now is it? :P

If the OP was presenting Lack's marketing material accurately, then it sure as hell is fair for the OP to be nosy about the business Lack is putting out in the street.

y cant players just cough up a measly 20 bucks. will be the best 20 ever spent, and its for a year. by the time ur ending date comes around next year, u could have just made 2 bucks a month and that is 24 bucks for another year of premium

I still can't figure out why they don't put an advertisement on the main page or on the top of the "my games" page. I have no problem with just one ad here and there as long as it isn't on the actual maps while playing. This place gets enough traffic that it could warrant a fairly good cash flow.

I don't know, 20 US$ is not nothing in many parts of the world.

Also I have been on the Internet since even before there was Websites, and in all that time I have never paid for access to any site or resource. For some reason I'm incredibly reluctant to start now.

No need to argue; it's me. I AM aware of that.

but from Europe, $20 is really really cheap especially with the exchange rates and everything and why is the cost of this site denominated in American dollars and not Canadian? Isn't this site run by a canuck? Crazy icebacks using our currency. Don't they know the American dollar is collapsing?

I'd say support staff talks less about mods and more about people on for making the site run as in Lack.

yea and the canadian dollar is rising, which if u think about it in the economic point of view is not good for canadian tourism, since less americans are willing to come up here and waste their money. but yeah, it really should be in canadian currency since lack is un quebec, which is still a part of canada even if those quebecois dont liek to think so.

I think Lack is free to give out premium as he sees fit. He is the dictator (albeit an extremely benevolent one) of this website, so he can do with it what he wants, I think. There are probably laws about the internet that prevent him from revoking premium from members for no reason, but I don't think there's anything that restricts giving it out.

Of course, I'm biased because Lack has given me free premium for helping test some stuff out.

Not counting the other premiums ive bought in here, Ive paid $20 for my account. Ive posted over 2000 times and played almost 2000 games.

The math on that is $.01 per game. Not counting the forum space. Just the time he's spent on the few pm's ive sent, and the few games we've played, I have cost him far more than that $20, without a doubt. If I hadnt bought a few other premiums, Id feel like a thief.
