i dont understand (from a newbie)

Postby 101candles on Thu Aug 09, 2007 3:40 am

in a game i was beaten because some guy in a sequential game was able to keep getting armies...i dont understand how, in one turn he gave i think 4x3 cards..in the seventh turn (!). How is this possible? Has it got something to do with whiping somebody of the map. Do u get extra cards or armies then? I played a lot of risk but this rule i have never heard of.

Game number?

And yes, if they wiped someone off the map and had 5+ cards, they had to cash in, giving more armies. If they wiped someone off in the same turn and again got 5+ cards, they have to cash in again.

Every card cash in allows them to get extra armies (if you haven't already figured this out).

Good luck in later games, and I hope I answered your question

yeah i got it now...i think

1. 2 armies bonus if u hand over a card with a country u own (bold)
2. That if u destroy an enemy u actually take over his/her cards and if u own more then 5 cards by that time u can hand them over again

is this correct?

But if you kill someone you ONLY cash if you get 5 cards. If you kill and only have 4, then you can't cash.

Its so wonderful eliminating someone, getting you a total of 9 cards, with atleast 2 mixed sets. (In a flat rate game of course)

no, what if you get all red cards, or 5 reds and 4 greens, or 5 reds and 4 blues. You don't always get mixed

I'm pretty sure that's in the RISK rulebook that comes with the board game...

Sure is for me.

I wonder....even if Hasbro didn't have a legal leg to stand on, would they bury lack and this site? I'm sure they could, but would they?

I don't think a game concept can be protected by copyright - just characters, images and exact words. Trademark probably protects the word Risk. However my understanding is that ideas alone, per se, cannot be copyrighted (or trademarked or even patented). There has to be some form of implementation to get protection.

Has there ever been a thread on this topic? My phpBB search skills blow, so I couldn't really find one.

The rules that govern this game (at least the basic rules) are all taken from the board game, so yes, it IS RISK.
