at least get to 1600 and play the elite games...plenty of 2000 pointers(((im so annoyed with the changing ranks...it used to be so easy to say colonels...now im not even sure what it is)))will play in those
if you cant get to 2000....youre not ready for them trust me...I have never seen a bad player in CC2000 games....thats why they are so fun, and its why its worth working your way up to play in them....but if you cant get there...youre better off playing at your level, or you will lose all your points anyways
ive seen perhaps one complaint or too in mine, and a quick "no-drama" reminder gets everyone back on track....no one can say this is true in lower ranked games
DiM , usually your posts are well thought out and articulate.......I hate to say this, but it just reads like you are talking in circles.....hmm just do what i did, join games with top players in them, there are lots of public games out there with great players in them. Why can't you learn from them until you gain the points you need to get into CC 2000? I don't understand why you are attacking the point system? I would say being in the 2000+ games is based on merit, just like everything should be......it almost sounds like you are talking about affirmative action lol oh and it wouldn't surprise me at all if Blitz won more than 80%......DiM wrote:
yes of course if i get to 2000 points i'll be able to join those games but that's not the issue here. my problem is that because of the score system i can't play in those games NOW. not because people are afraid i'm a poor player or a deadbeat or trash talker but simply because the point system penalizes them too much.
i want to play now with the top ranks because in my opinion that's the best way for me to refine my tactics and gain points.
let's say i want to play with blitz 100 1vs1 games.
he's better than me so he'll win 70% of the time but i'm still good enough to get 30%.
not only will i learn a lot from him but i'll also gain a whopping 600 points.
even if he wins 80% of the time, i still get a profit of ~150 points.
is this right? blitz actually has to win more than 80% of those games with me to be able to keep his score. and frankly that's impossible. and that's why i think the score system is stupid when people reach high points.
and if i play 6 player standard games with the top players i'll have to win less than 10% of the games in order for me to get a profit. and to be sincere i think i'm capable of doing that (unless they all gang up and eliminate me first to prevent huge point loss).
the fact that the system encourages this fear of lower ranks is what bothers me.
let's take an example from football.
italy is the top team in the fifa rankings. let's say they play with burkina faso and lose. will they quickly tumble down the scores? no their score will drop but just a bit. on the other hand burkina faso will not only learn to play better but also their score will rise significantly.![]()
until the current score system changes at the top i won't even bother wasting my time to slowly gain point after point until i reach 2000+. why? because i like having fun. belive it or not i've passed the chance to eliminate a guy get his cards and win the game just because he was the only one chatting and i wanted to keep him around for longer. was it a smart move? definitely not if the purpose is to gain points. but in my book that was a very smart thing because that guy was the only one that made the game fun.

please don't put words in my mouth, I never said he would win them I said it wouldn't surprise me if he did, I'm only responsible for what I say not what you hear.DiM wrote:well i am talking in circles. i like debating and in any debate sometimes you have to talk nonsense or to temporary agree with the others until a better opportunity arises or simply repeat the same thing over and over again but in many different forms and shapes, present it as attractive and intelligent as possible until the other is convinced. also mood changes are great. behave strange confuse the others and the strike. playing dumb is also a good tactic. write arguements like you have the brain of a retarded 5 year old and then strike with an intellectual masterpiece. usually the others remain stunned. like right now i'm really babling here, and you are reading carefully when in fact i'm making no sense and just buying some time before i make a valid statement. or perhaps what you just read remains imprinted in your subconscience and this subliminal message kicks in at the exact time and i brain wash you to start 666 games with me and lose them all.
oh and i like writing long poststhis bit of info about me loving long posts is just an example of how chaotic and erratic my line of thought is, or perhaps it's just an example of my brainwashing technique. who knows?
PS: oh and blitz wouldn't win 80% of 1vs1 duels with me. i'm willing to bet anything on this.

once again, another circle, which is it? usually or all the time? because if your me it means i wouldn't be surprised, you know how many times i've seen Blitz take on a whole team and still win? and to top it off this thread is about the point system and not you and Blitz playing, so stuff a sock in it and get back to how you are too much of a baby to go and get points like a man and that's why you want the system changed....DiM wrote:RiskTycoon wrote:please don't put words in my mouth, I never said he would win them I said it wouldn't surprise me if he did, I'm only responsible for what I say not what you hear.DiM wrote:well i am talking in circles. i like debating and in any debate sometimes you have to talk nonsense or to temporary agree with the others until a better opportunity arises or simply repeat the same thing over and over again but in many different forms and shapes, present it as attractive and intelligent as possible until the other is convinced. also mood changes are great. behave strange confuse the others and the strike. playing dumb is also a good tactic. write arguements like you have the brain of a retarded 5 year old and then strike with an intellectual masterpiece. usually the others remain stunned. like right now i'm really babling here, and you are reading carefully when in fact i'm making no sense and just buying some time before i make a valid statement. or perhaps what you just read remains imprinted in your subconscience and this subliminal message kicks in at the exact time and i brain wash you to start 666 games with me and lose them all.

ugh, i thought that's what you implied when you said that.![]()
if i say: "i wouldn't be surprised if somebody posts after me" it usually means i'm sure somebody posts after me

The point I'm trying to make is that people who don't really deserve to be there are sitting pretty. I've played a lot of colonels before the new rank changes and I can tell you that over half of them had no business in that category... New and better players will only get to the top IF they focus their games around points or just prefer team games more than any other style.
That's my reason for not liking the current point system. It just doesn't give new players a fair shot at the top 20 unless they stick to team games and focus on getting points. You have to realize all those points earned by many of those top players aren't going back down to the low ranked players it's just the oposite! The low ranked players keep giving points away by joining public team games...
Well how do you explain the likes of Genghis and myself getting into the top 10 when we play a large percentage of singles games and DONT belong to crack teams that mug newbies for points. I have to laugh when you tell us how easy it is to farm points from team games because when I was a humble major (old rankings ) and you a near General I joined 2 of your games thinking it would be easy pickings. The first game we both forted heavily to our third team member who promptly went on vacation, the second game you missed a turn and got yourself taken out !
I think I lost a total of about 80 points which put my ambitions on hold for a while, how I laughed
