Getting Kicked from Game helps preserve ranking...

Postby MikeFromLux on Thu Jun 21, 2007 6:46 am

Ok - just finished a game of doubles. 2 Players wasted their men on my partner and I, then both got kicked after wasting 2 days each of our time. Ultimately the game finished, and as a result of these two yahoo's poor moves, then inactivity - at the end of the game, they lost fewer points that my partner and I, the 2 guys who actually tried to finish the game.

My point is, that it seems the present system almost promotes 'deadbeatness' for certain types of play - if these guys had not ruined (either through poor strategy or just plain spite) both teams chances of winning, by throwing it to the other team, I do not think they would have timed out like they did. In the end - it made for a very long game, and they lost fewer points.

I am sure that this has probably been brought up before - but could there be a dead beat penalty? If you are out first, because both players on a team time out - can there be an additional 20 or so points deducted - so that it does not become a point adcantage to time out, and assure first out, if on has wasted all their men or looks like they are not going to win?

What chessplaya said.

You probably lost more points because you and your partner had a higher rank then the 2 who deadbeated.

Higher rank = more points lost when you lose. It doesn't matter how you were eliminated, or when; rank determines the points lost.
