there are a few schools of though concerning this subject... the two most popular are:

1. the owner/admins are lazy as f*ck
2. the owner/admins are lazy as f*ck and allergic to money

rest assured, neither of these are true. well, number one may be considered true in some instances, but not when it comes to this matter. Lackattack answered this question long ago. for those of you too lazy to look it up, it follows:

Subject: Can you change your name?

Email I will change manually if you send me a request from the new address plus a request from the contact form (logged in).

Names I will change on special occasions because it puts a strain on the server doing a search-and-replace on the game logs.

there... the strain placed on the servers doing a search and replace on the game logs was just too much way back in the day. imagine what the strain would be on the servers today if someone that has been here for ages requested a name change. there isn't any amount of money that would make the risk worthwhile to the site owner or admins. as it is, the site still isn't quite sure how to handle returned players that create new accounts, due to forgetting their old accounts. they can't combine them. they can't give the new account the points. there is just this big gray mush of confusion concerning all matters that deal with name changes...

this is also a very hotly debated topic amongst forum goers, past and present... there are two schools of thought:

1. the owner/admins are lazy as f*ck
2. the owner/admins are lazy as f*ck and allergic to posts

however, i can assure you that this is not true... below are the answers to your questions...

Post count is to reflect CC releated posts (I.E. in all other forums than the one forum we have not about CC).

for consistency is there any way post counts can be retrospectively adjusted so people's post count can be adjusted downwards historically as well

We tried re-calcultaing the post counts after disbling them on IK but it didn't work. Seems you need to hack the forum code...

This has been a long-standing suggestion, and I never understood the restriction to begin with. As bigWham put it:

All posts are posts to me, and contribute content to Conquer Club.

I've changed the settings to count posts from OT and Forum Games. I'm currently re-synchronizing post counts while typing this, your post counts should reflect posts in OT and Forum Games shortly.

so, prior to BW, the school of thought was that certain posts did not count to the post total, because they would encourage SPAM (lack/andy/twill). BW took control and he believed that all posts were CC related... thus, OT and FORUM GAMES and other forums were added to the post count. However, i have noticed that my clans private forum does not count towards my post total and i would assume that user groups are the same (i don't know, Kotaro threw me out of the Library Club)...

if you look back at the historical context of the forums and the vast difference in numbers of users back when the lack/twill/andy trifecta were holding the reins, vs now... you can surely see how they tried to limit spam, as it was a very vibrant and active forum that was consistently listed in the top forums on the entire internet... if you look at where we are now, BW is trying to revive a community that was effectively killed off by past owners poor decisions and past moderators/admins actions.

so, applaud BW for making those posts that never counted before, count!!! so, in short. many of your posts that did not count years ago, now count. i hope this answered your question.-Jésus noir

Dear OS,

Having been digitally yelled at and scolded recently and feeling quite badly about same said scolding, I thought I would turn to you for some direction (perhaps one would consider this a seeking of advice).

In recent speeder games (also known as late night crack for insomniacs) I was chastised and chastened for the following:

A. Not "walling" a player that the 1v1 game they had set up and offered had started. To be clear, as to ensure there is no misunderstanding, I joined their game. They missed two (2) turns and I crushed (smushed in fact) them. "You suck!" I was told. Although I may in fact "suck" at many things, I don't believe that the sucking label is justified in this particular case. Can you help?

And, finally:

B. After I set up and offer a speed game with settings x, y, and z, a player joins. We share the standard CC greeting of "best of luck chum" and we procede to shoot spit wads at each other across the continent. Two (2) turns in, same said player yells out, "settings x suck, why did you choose these settings, why didn't you let me know when I joined?!?" Should I have phoned?

Looking for direction.

now, i for one do not understand why people feel this way, i certainly do not. i appreciate EW's early request for this honor and am very flattered, some may say EXTREMELY. however, i must follow the tradition of past years and place all of those requesting me to be their date/girlfriend, be placed into a random drawing. perhaps this year, we will weight the number of entires per person, based on when they placed their request. so, obviously, EW will have the largest number of paper slips in the hat. i look forward to this annual tradition and i truly hope that this is going to suffice for now, EW. please understand, it has to be this way, due to the number of demands/requests, etc, upon the black jesus during the holiday season. the black jesus has spoken...-Jn
