Team games...rules?

OK. I am new. In a team game, does the team get a continent bonus if they occupy a continent between them?
OR
does it have to be one member of the team who occupies all the countries in the continent?
Be ferocious in battle, but magnanimous in victory.

Just get them to fort their armies to you.
