For non-premium, freestyle has the advantage of (in almost all cases) allowing you to have a lot more turns per day. Premium players can simply play many simultanuous sequential games to satisfy their addiction (though it'll require a bit more effort due to the frequent context-switching).
The disadvantage of freestyle is that it gives an (imho unfair) advantage to players who are willing to and capable of spending a lot of time, in 2 ways :
1) By constantly checking the game, and then starting your turn during someone else's turn, you can (if you have a faster connection/machine/reflexes) perform some tricks, the most extreme of which is 'stealing' the killing blow against a player in a game with escalating cards, after another player has done most of the work, simply because you were able click faster.
2) Even though the game does not allow a player to take 2 consecutive turns, you can take the last turn of a round, and then as soon as any player starts the first turn of the next round (but long before he has finished it, indeed, if you're fast enough and he is slow enough, even before he did anything), you can take your turn for that next round, which does seem to go against the spirit of the rules.
