About playing from same computer

Postby Dark Soul on Fri May 18, 2007 5:10 am

I've got few questions about this because i wouldn't like to get banned or something like that. I've invited to this game 2 friends of mine. Because of them i have questions.
First of all the rule:
- 12. Can more than one person play from the same computer?

The short answer is yes. Our Multi Hunters are pretty good at distinguishing roomates & family members from people with multiple accounts. However, it is generally a good idea to play in doubles/triples games with people from the same computer. This will help avoid accusations of cheating.

It says here that its good to play with your friends in doubles? If i would ever play doubles game only thing i have to do is to wright down in the beginning of the game that we play from same computer or what?

So i can play with my friends from my computer without fear that we'll get banned? I must say that we don't play the same games.

That seems like it would be wrong to me. I would think it as duping. I wonder if that text is supposed to say "Avoid" playing with them in doubles and triples.

the other for your freedom.

If you are playing from the same computer, then the safest thing is never to play in the same game. It is also permitted to play as partners in a doubles or triples game. For people who play from the same computer there are opportunities for collusion that aren't as easily available to other players. If people who play from the same computer play in different games there is no possibility of cheating. Likewise if they play as partners there is no opportunity of cheating because partners are supposed to collude with each other.

The problem comes in when people on the same computer want to play against each other in the same non-partner game. You've got to overcome the presumption that such players will favor each other in the game. You can overcome this presumption in a private game by disclosing the fact that you are playing from the same computer and getting the other players acceptance of this fact before you give them the password to the game. I think it's a bad idea to play against each other in a public game because you are leaving yourself open to allegations of cheating (specifically of being a multi) and are subject to investigation from the multi-hunters.

I think that if you play from the same computer, then you are safe from allegations of cheating if you:

1. Play in different games.

2. Play as partners in the same game, or

3. Play in a private non-partner game after you have secured the acceptance of all the other players in the game.

It may be helpful here to understand how some players use multiple accounts to cheat against their fellow players. The cheater creates a second account (violating the first rule of CC) and then plays both of his accounts in the same game. This allows the cheater to in effect have a secret alliance (violating the second rule of CC) between both of his accounts in the same game. He can coordinate strategy with himself, go after the same player to eliminate him, sacrifice one account for the benefit of the other account, etc. An extremely effective way of cheating. Multi-hunters attempt to detect such players using multiple accounts and one way they do this is by looking at player's IP addresses, since most multis play from the same computer. So if you are playing from the same computer but you are not a multi it behooves you to take precautions so that you are not caught by the multi-hunters for doing something you didn't do.

Well because of the IP address i was worrying about. When i invited Babau (friend of mine) we were at internet cafe. I had to make him an e-mail address(he's very bed at english) and then send invitation to him, and to do so i had go online at the same computer. Well the second "friend" is my girlfriend. And so when we go out, we usually stop by to my placee where i work ( i play from my work only), thats when we play from the same computer.
One more time thx for explanation.

I just hope that i wrote everything correctly.

Also a good way to show us you aren't multiple accounts, have everyone upgrade their accounts! :) It's good to support the site. ;)
