Greetings bigWham! Here's a few suggestions...

So we have a new sheriff in town.
We could be cynical and gorge in past failures... or we could give the man a chance!

So what do you think the man himself should be focusing on? What issues need addressing, and what ideas need implementing?
Give us, and more importantly: him, your thoughts.

Off the top of my head, I shot him a brief wall post encouraging him to spend 30 min a day in the suggestions forum. If he gets the feel for what the community want, and starts working towards implementing a few of those ideas, I would say he was on the right track.

On a far more personal note; bigWham, we have many talented mapmakers on this site as I'm sure you have observed. One of them is Kabanellas, who has graced us with the masterpiece Napoleonic Europe. It's hard to imagine a better map, but amazingly the man has gone and created Age of Buccaneers, perhaps a masterpiece to surpass it. Unfortunately, there is a slight issue with coding that is keeping the map from being made. That sort of thing isn't my forté, but if there is something you can do... do it. That in itself should earn you a few bucket loads of popularity.

If I may widen my train of thought a little... The Foundry. Without them where would we be? Yet over the years it appears a fair few have become disgruntled and felt neglected. That should never have been allowed to happen. Thus, beside from suggestions forum, may I suggest you work closely with the Foundry people. They are in essence your employees, working their arses off for you.. for free. Help them help you make this place even better.

Oh.. and you may want to take a peek at the clan scene... see what needs done there. I think you'll find that a large chunk of your most loyal customers are found right there.

I'm going to shut up now, and hopefully people with more insight and eloquence of the tongue can steer you in the right direction.

PS: At my fellow Clubers: If anyone wants to be negative, please go make your own thread. This man is not responsible for the perceived failures of his predecessors, thus i don't want to hear it.

Hopefully you can see already that I agree. I have been spending more than 30 mins... and if you include time working on implementing Suggestions, much more. Stay tuned for an announcement regarding Suggestions soon... in the meantime I encourage anyone who cares to also spend 30 mins a day there.

Agreed. I am in the process of engaging them as we speak.

Agreed on Clans. Things are already happening there. Clans will be getting a lot of attention.
