Closed Maps

Is there a reason why maps like World Cup 2010 are closed? I understand why with the Christmas, Easter and St. Patty's maps, but the World Cup maps were fun. Why not open them up for permanant use?

Because the world cup is only every 4 years. That is the only reason I can think of.

Yeah, but every time someone will probably make a new map. I just don't see why if someone takes the time to make a map, why it should not be able to be enjoyed.

it would be nice if the country names were changed to reflect the new qualifiers when the next one rolls around.

I believe it's because it didn't go through the proper foundry process (Like all Special maps). They were done behind the scenes, so I believe the Foundry found that it would be unfair to other mapmakers. Try PM'ing thenobodies80.

The World Cup maps are closed when the World Cup is not on because they are special-event, limited-time maps, just like the Christmas, Easter, and St. Patrick's Day maps.
