Turn Skipping Abuse & Solutions

Postby tardis123 on Sun Jun 24, 2012 9:30 pm

If all you can do is give players who skip turns to gain an advantage bad ratings, what is supposed to deter them from abusing the game in this fashion? Personally I see no reason to have a 3 turn kick limit, and think that if it was reduced to 2 turns it would greatly decrease the ability of people to abuse the game in this fashion.

don't think reducing it to 2 turns will help as most have a valid reason.. but maybe change it to 3 missed turns in total instead of 3 consecutive missed turns.

That also is not a good idea... what about the big games, where they reach to 200 rounds?? Missing 3 separate turns is very easy...

You maybe can set it to minimum 3 missed turns and maximum 1 missed turn for each 20 turns played.

although i agree with the assesment against missing 3 turns, even if not consequative. I disagree with your reasoning. In large games it is even more annoying to have people miss turn then it is in small games. its a never ending game and it takes ages just to take your own turn, thats plain annoying with no end in sight...

making the 3 missed turns=deadbeat without concequativeness, well that means if i miss turns i could deadbeat without warning byond a single turn... think about the massacre this means in teamgames..

I agree with what you said... but are you sure is more annoying to miss 3 turns in a game of 100 rounds, than miss 3 turns in a game of 10 rounds?

When you reach to 100 rounds that means atleast 3 months, you won't realize so much the miss turns, as if he missed 3 turns in one week.
Atleast in my case, I don't mind it as it can be very easy, and if there's no end in sight, who cares if they take it the turn now or in few hours?

I have been waiting for that rule for some time now. However all this does is give a warning prod at the abuser there is no real way to stop it. Its just a flaw in the system. To police it would take to much man power that the site just doesn't have. Possibly a rule for repeat offenders could be made but it to would take alot of work as well.

Players who skip turns for a tactical advantage is a form of game abuse. If a player habitually misses turns for advantage you can file a complaint and if deemed excessive they will be warned etc...

Unless I'm mistaken there have been a couple players warned/banned for intentionally missing manual deploy turns in City Mogul game.

A resign button may help. If u start playing a game and it goes on longer than u expect and then u have a holiday to somewhere with no reception u could resign rather than opponents wait for u to take turns.

Also I think if u commit to a game u must play first round or u are out. My first game on this site was a 5 player game. Three of us were new recruits. The other two did not play at all. I nearly gave up the game took so long to get going.
