Is it allowed to accuse others of cheating

So I'm playing another game on World 2.1 (I've been joining every game with that map for weeks until recently, so would have played every single game with it for a while), when some guy accuses me of colluding/being secretly allied with another guy, because me and him have been in some games together (recall that since I've been joining every game on that map, I would have been in every single game with every single person who plays that maps for weeks). At first I thought he was just an idiot, but he went on to nag and whine until others were convinced of this.

Since this is strictly a moderation issue and if he truly suspected this he should have reported us, is it allowed for him to have done this? That is - is it allowed for one player to try and convince others that two players are secretly working together in some way? It seems quite unfair to me, since then anything you do which does not involve attacking the other person (which you are allegedly allied to) or attacking anyone attacking them might seem to other players as confirming the accusation - when in reality it is fulfilling the suggestion that you are allied to them because you are de-facto put into a position of defence against the accuser(s).

I hope the above makes sense somehow, let me know if there's any rules or unofficial rules on this, and in general what others think.

When using in game diplomacy (which this would fall under), nearly everything is allowed. Not everything is sportmanslike, of course, but false accusations in game chat are not against the rules.

You could of course tell him to take the issue up to the C&A forum if he really believes that, and stop complaining otherwise.

Arguments can rise through game chat diplomacy but there is a fine line between just accusing a person of Cheating and badgering or Abusing verbally. Remember that it also takes two to Argue.

If a person accuses you of cheating and you do not respond or even if you apologize in order to put the issue to rest and that person does not drop it but continues to make the accusation and especially if they use hard language then it may very well be considered abuse.

Most of us come here to enjoy ourselves. We don't come here to be abused or accused, so if it happens and you really feel strongly that it is abuse and also that you are not flaming it as well, Then you should create a thread and let cheating and Abuse decide the matter.

That is precisely what that person who accused you of cheating should have done in the first place. If they had any proof to present. That is the advantage of a moderator controlled website. But it only works if we take full advantage of it.
