Is this a joke, where's the "just throw points away button"?

I've not even started playing and I already lost

Game 10384728

Where's the quit button?

Somebody reprogram these maps. This is not playing, it's going for a game just to throw points away.

lucky you. random placement means that once in a while you will get the best placement, if you have good dice, it will lead to victory. if your dice suck you still lose.
Also, unlimited fortification is not something you really want and then complain about a game being unfair. 1vs1 is also unbalanced, so if you really want balanced maps, try some other one's like treasures of the galapagos..

Honestly, a Forfeit option at least would make me forget this stillborn game. What can I do? With 2 moves in first play he got himself completely locked with +6 bonuses behind a barrage of neutrals.

Or at least automatic drop should be more heterogeneous.

That is not the result of the drop, it is the result of unlimited reinforcements. I would never do unlimited reinforcements in a heads-up game because most often whoever starts the game wins. Might was well flip coins. If you want to forget about this game as soon as possible I would suggest you try to eliminate the neutral player...

actually it's not just unlimited reinforcements it's also the map's fault.

you have several colonies with just 1 terit that can be taken and guarded from round 1 if the drop allows you so, while you have other colonies with 4 terits. and the worst fact is that those 1 terit colonies are even grouped close.

in a 1v1 game if somebody gets a good drop in the top half of the map, then he's a sure winner.
and that would not be much of a problem since many maps are imbalanced in 1v1 but this imbalance is very visible even in 6p games.

basically somebody could get 2 terits and hold them for a +3 while another player would have to get 6-7 terits with 3-4 borders for the same bonus.

Two player games are boring. They depend too much on luck. Initial drop and who gets to play first almost always determine who wins. And the outcome of most games is determined in the first turn itself or rarely in the second turn, specially on smaller maps. Adjacent reinforcements and bigger maps makes it a little even, but only so much.

You don't really only need luck in the 1st and 2nd turn... You need luck the entire game.

mm. noel you need luck in round 1, and the average luck to coast through it. but yea, stuff happens, its a dice game and avery once in a while you will get the 1 and they will get the 6, every single time...

you shouldn't play unlimited forts in any one v one map...except for a neutral heavy map (Pelo war/treasure of gelapagos/feudal war/etc). First turn has too much of an advantage
