Question re: CC Ethics....is this cool?

Postby KoolBak on Wed Sep 07, 2011 2:31 pm

So....say a very good, high ranked player has a habit of sending invites to unsolicited players (ie players picked from the scoreboard) based on their rank (lieutenant and above) to play 1 v 1 games on maps he rules on.....this is NOT systematically "farming" of new recruits....it is however systematically farming of established players....lol. Should they know better / take their chances? Should he simply make the games public and anyone can join? It is my opinion he only invites higher ranks so that in the unlikely event he DOES lose, its not a shitepot of points.

Anyhow, this zeke has farmed 2 of my friends.....they bit and lost.....

I would appreciate your (experienced) viewpoints.....

No one forces them to join, they're big boys and know what they do. If you accept an invite and lose because the other player is better than you... well, tough.

Maybe we should just give the losers of every game all their points back so no one gets traumatized by losing a fucking online board game.

well I don't think this counts as farming as farming means the other player has no experience. Does it matter that he likes to invite higher ranks? I think no. If you don't like it do something about it. Invite him to a 1v1 and beat him. See if that makes you feel better.

Shield; I don't particularly feel either way about it....that was the same recommendation I made to the losers...lol.

If you can make it higher than lieutenant, you know what games you can/can play and should be able to tell whether the player you are playing against is good/bad at the map.

Unless it's a map he plays often, I doubt it.

When I got up to major, I was really picky about what games I did and didn't join. I feel like it's just an innate feeling for anyone who gets up to that rank. I'll accept anything now, but most high rankers seem too only accept game invites that they know they'll have a chance.

Lame, but that's all it is. How about making a doubles or trips game and inviting him? Most players won't refuse a team game.

I know who youre talking about, but I dont see a problem with it. I was invited, but he usually picks complex maps that the ranked players have not played on but they know its fair game.

I'm sure they'll much appreciate your slots not being full, does this mean they would be open?.

Yes, I take my meds, but that's only because I'm dying of ass cancer and they're going to put me in a coma soon.

The argument goes both ways -- the people inviting the other players only do so because they care about the number of arbitrary points they have scored winning an online board game ;D
