Point System question

Postby WhisperedRen on Sat Jun 04, 2011 2:15 am

I had been wondering how the points lost and earned in any given game are generally established.
Like, what conditions are best for earning the most points or significantly reducing points you'll lose.

I do not know if taking all the territories before eliminating the last player will award more or less points either.

Can anyone provide a general guideline?

Play against players that have a LOT more points than you. In extreme cases where you do manage to get into such games, you have potential to gain 60+ points per player if you win, or lose less than 5 points if you lose.

Score

Conquer Club members are initially given a score of 1000. At the end of each game, the winner takes points away from each loser. The points to be awarded is calculated as (loser's score / winner's score) * 20, up to a maximum of 100 points from each opponent.

The most efficient would be to win against a high ranked player as you will win much more , if you win, then they gain if you loose. Obviously this is hard

So simply I just play against tougher opponents? I earn more points and lose less that way?

If by tougher you mean someone with a lot more points than you, then yes.

If there are lots of high ranked players, you are very unlikely to win (The high ranked players tend to be very good). Playing against high ranked players in terminator games is probably your best bet where you could get around around 60 points for eliminating just one player whilst if you are later eliminated will only lose around 5 points making a net gain of around 55 points.

Not always true. Some simply get to a high rank by focusing almost exclusively on team games, which is not hard if most of your opponents have no idea what they're doing.
A good idea is to look for public standard flat rate/no spoils to start out with.

If fact, people get angry if you take all neutral territs first before killing an opponant. But indeed, taking teerits is not the only way to win, killing your opponant is much more efficient, and indeed amount of territs left unconquered does have NO impact on the points you recieve

To add to Sebstar's point, if you purposely attack neutral territories while your opponent(s) have absolutely no chance of staging a comeback (especially in 1vs1), you may be accused of holding them "hostage", so usually it's a good idea to leave the neutral territories alone when you know for sure that you'll win (unless said territories need to be attacked to reach your opponent's territories).

Joodoo, is correct. the intentionally lenghtening the game you have actually already won is against the rules. However there is some leeway. Killing all neutrals in every game you play, is crossing that leeway by a far stretch

I would like the points to be calculated at the start of the game rather than the end. There are cases where you join the game and then lose to someone who maybe has has a bad run of form their points score goes down and therefore the points you lose goes up. This happens most in no spoils games.

and vice versa.
Question:
You face a new cook. He turns out to be the new conqueror. You lock horns on a no spoils game that takes 3 months. He now take 36 points of you, instead of 5.
One way to abuse this system is to get a low rank on purpose. then start countless games, all calculated at the time of the start of the game. In the end he wins a load of games and looses some. He is not the new conqueror even if he has an average win of 50% on 1 vs 1.
nope. your idea is bad.
