Speed games as a freemium

Is there any way to get to play speed games when you're freemium? Can you "win" the right to play a couple of them or do you always have to have premium to get to play them?

there is a fee to play them, for you, only $25 US

No there is no way to win free speed games.
there are various days like st'patricks day that offer free unlimited speedgames on the day(s) itself.
You can also become a premium player without paying for it if you win one of the tournaments that offer a premium prize if you win the tournament. Those are not often, and its hard to win, but it happens to at least the winner. Myself e.g. won such a tournament.
