Postby greenoaks on Sat Oct 09, 2010 7:11 am

did anyone else get this message from admin

Due to technical difficulties game 7758762, which you joined, had become corrupted beyond repair and had to be deleted. Any exchanges of points have been reversed.

We apologize for any inconvenience this causes.

i have no idea what this game was and it is not possible to find it via the Game Finder function

EDIT: i've figured it out, it was a speed game i was in when the site crashed

cool, that also means nobody lost points for a game they could not play. Good work CC. and I have to say. This is a rare event. I have not seen CC down very often in all my time, they do the good works on their servers. Slow yes, down and out rarely... very rarely

What about a game that was pretty much over when the site crashed (consider someone with 1 territory, 1 army and 0 spoils in a 1v1 escalating game)?

Just saying there are always two sides of the coin. While some games were correctly nulified, others were incorrectly nulified.

Isn't there a way to continue a game back from where it stopped (in the case of a speed game, all parties could define a schedule to be all online and continue it with no damage to anyone)?

suppose you had a game where you were pretty much going to win. once you would take your turn.
now you never got to make your turn, you deadbeated instead.
You just lost the game, a perfect attendance record might be shot and you would be pretty angry...

Just to fix this situation I would like to make the suggestion that it is illegal for the internetz or the server to go down..
Sorry for the attempt at humor. I concur that it sucks, but this way it sucks less..
If you have a suggestion that does not require staff to go though all the x times thousands of games and backlogs and still be more fair to this situation then please do so.

I don't know anything at all about programming, coding, backups and whatnot. That's why I made the question.

I just think saying they did a good work is simplistic when the consequences of the deletion were not 100% fair.

were you in that game? would you have won the game if nothing happened, would you have won the game if it was not deleted (by virtue of being last to deadbeat)? would you have liked to loose attendance because of a hiccup?

I still believe it was a good job..
