Question about spoils

Postby Ninja Champion on Tue Aug 17, 2010 2:17 am

Each spoil has a territory name on it. Is this a random territory drawn from the board for each player every turn or are the territories drawn for each player according to what is remaining on the board (if the board can support it)? I know how multiple players can hold the same card on small maps; but is this true even if the board has enough territories?

As an example, if 5 players all had 5 cards on the classic map, will no 2 players hold the same territory on any of their spoils?

search is your friend, but it looks like the cards are dealt out randomly as the game goes on, and the color of the card is random too. But if all the territories have been drawn, then it draws from a new deck.

(EDITED FOR MAJOR DUH!)so YES
,since classic has only 42 Territories, if you were playing with 5 players, you should NOT have someone with the same spoil country as you.

How so? Even if all 5 players held 5 cards, that's 25 territories. Even in an 8-player game, no two players should ever hold the same territory. Right?

not true...say i have 5 cards, but its round 12. that means that ive already cashed....but havent got rid of all my cards, so i and someone else could have the same territ. And I thought the territs were alphabetical, not random..I may be mistaken tho.

The way I understood it, cards are drawn from one deck (unless it runs out). Once you cash, the 3 cards are shuffled back into the deck. It's possible to draw the territory you just cashed, but territories that are still in your hand can't be drawn until they're put back into the deck. With a max of 40 cards in hand (8 x 5), the 42 card deck can never run out.

If this is wrong, then I guess I don't understand how the cards work (which is possible), and I could use an explanation too.

Im relatively certain that this is false and that to give you a card, a random region and color are selected and you can have 2 cards of the same region out in play. I seem to remember someone complained when they had a stack in a nuke game and they had that card but someone else nuked them

I'm pretty sure (though not 100% positive) that drunkmonkey is correct.

Ijex, the situation you are describing would definately happen if there were less regions then territories in play. Are you certain that the number of regions in the game you are talking about was larger then the number of cards maximum handed out?
