Question about "multi" accounts

Postby Greegan on Sat Aug 07, 2010 12:37 am

This is a question, I'm not accusing anyone. I didn't know where to ask this...

K, so I had a ROUGH start with CC. I'm a premium player and I'd like to leave my Greegan account alone. Unpaid at the beginning of my new 12 months (whenever that is) and create a new game ID. If I don't use Greegan and only use the new one, is that violating any rules? I ask because most of what I've read relates to the two accounts being active and using them during the same game. I don't want to do that. I would like a fresh start so I wanted to ask. As long as I'm paying for the 2nd premium and not violating the rules of using both during the same 12 months, would it be a problem? ** Greegan struggles with tower shield waiting for the stones to begin flying... **

You are only allowed to create one account. Can't even change your username.

We're all in the same boat mate. Before getting premium in may I played 6-8 player flatrate for eight months, and got farmed in the few random teamgames I ventured into, I'll have to live with those stats. Also, when creating account I never thought Arama86n would be used as a screenname, lol, just my username. In other games I've played noone ever sees your username :)

On the bright side, if your worried about rank, don't be. Gaining points and rank is all about choosing games and opposition more carefully. If you want to be conquerer, you'll have to take it to the extreme, but if your just looking to gain a few ranks it's very very easy. I was down to corperal two-three weeks ago, now I'm Major. And I don't play much speed. With speed changes like that can come in a few hours :P

A tip would be to find a decent player around your own rank and throw up seq, auto dubs games. Even if you only win 1/6 in the beginning, that's fine, you'll lose 6points per loss, and gain 50 per win :)

Good luck

Except in extreme cases, where a significant portion of the community finds your username "controversial".

which so far have failed to show reasons for it to be occurring here. so basicly this is soo rare, you will sooner be the owner of CC then change your name greenan.

You know I think Greegan CAN submit a new user name validly within the rules as they stand....

Rule #1: No multiple accounts

Multiple accounts are discovered by routine scans and community cheating reports. They are strictly forbidden whether or not they play in the same games or are even in use. If you suspect certain accounts belong to the same person, please report it following the instructions at the top of the Cheating & Abuse Reports forum.

If he let's his Premium lapse then it is NOT "even in use". If he starts a new account with a different name then he has had multiple entities but never MULTIPLE accounts i.e. he had only ever had one during any "period" (period being term of Premium membership)...
I would agree that this wld give "New (Greegan) person" an advantage in that he would be "born again" as a cadet with more points than now and could create C&A claims over the "noob with map experience" but would suggest that the website co-ords/owners be asked on this technical question...Rule#1 does NOT, as it stands, preclude Greegan's suggestion and the usual suspects issuing edicts in response to his question hardly addresses that...thorts?

Answer the Q...if the current account has lapsed then it is NOT even in use.
If someone stops playing for two years it does not forbid them to come back as some other name...
It does forbid multiple accounts but not a different name on a different account at a future time if only ONE account is "in use"
Seriously...

@DJPatrick:
they are strictly forbidden whether or not they [...] are even in use.

In other words, whether or not they are in use doesn't matter, they are forbidden regardless. So yes, it does forbid someone who stops playing for two years to come back as some other name.

LV and Michel...I do NOT disagree with the sentiment but as Rule 1 stands they is all you are re-iteratting: sentiment...Don't base your responses to Greegan's Q with the perceived "that's how it is done here" answer...I do know that's how it is done here BUT someone sometime set these rules and they do NOT forbid Greegan's proposal ---change the rule to make it technically binding so every player sees it unambigously when joining...

Patrick: I really don't understand what you are saying there. The rules actually DO forbid Greegan's proposal. I just quoted the part of Rule #1 that states that multiple accounts are forbidden.

If I'm quoting from site rules, how can I possibly be expressing sentiment that isnt' supported by the rules?

They are strictly forbidden whether or not they play in the same games or are even in use.

Pretty easy to understand and is not vaguely worded.

When you create an account you have to check a box acknowledging that you will NEVER make another account.

Patrick if he let his premium account lapse he would then have a free account, creating another account would be multi accounts. The user who creates the account has that account forever even if he doesn't use the account. We have had members start an account and stop playing but they came back a year later to use their original account.

sorry evil but this is simple open the multi account report yourself then once busted buy the premium for the multi account.. this has been done by several members like kingburger and others. as the rules state once you are busted the only way back is 2 buy premium membership so buy it on the new account.

whats your point eddie....you have no idea of the details behind the scenes that allow people to keep which account.
Quite simply I as a multi hunter am telling you if you make another account and you are busted 99 times out of 100 you will have to buy back on the original
