Multies vs. Family Members

Postby Shishy on Fri Mar 09, 2007 8:35 am

My nephew recommended to me that I post this message, just for clarity. He got me into this Conquer Club thing, because he knew I love Risk. I think getting to play other "real" players is AWEsome, as compared to playing an AI player on the PC game. Well, my husband is the one that initially got me into Risk at all (the classic board game, and then we bought the PC game, Risk II). So, since we both love Risk, he created an account for himself, as well. And my son is now really getting into it, so he wanted an account too.

I read the rules carefully, and it states that more than one person can play from the same computer, they just recommend that you do it in a doubles game, rather than 2 people on the same computer entering into a non-partners game. So, that's what we did. My husband (username Lutra) and I play doubles games together. And my son (Speedy Gonzalez) and I do also. Now, my son is currently living with his father, my ex-husband, and he doesn't allow him to get on the computer a lot, which is crap frankly. I discussed it with him first (creating an account), so that he would know that if my son misses his turns, he'll be kicked out of games, and also tick a lot of people off in the meantime. So, it was crucial that he be allowed to check up on the games at least once a day. He agreed to that. And then, of course, being the jackass he is (that's why we're divorced), he doesn't let him do it, and so I take turns for him when he can't get online.

Some people might not like that we all have an account and play these games together, but we all love Risk, so why should only one of us get to play? The only advantage we have in a partners game is that we're sitting next to each other while discussing strategies. Other partners also get to discuss their strategies, they just have to type it, whereas we get to speak it out loud.

At any rate, I've only been asked once if we were a multi-account. So, not too many complaints so far. Just wanted to post the info that we are family members each with our own accounts. Mine is premium and I play in many more games (because I don't work full-time), and my husband chose to just have the free account and only play doubles with me. My son's account is also a free one, and until his father allows him more time on the computer, I don't see that changing to a premium account any time soon.

Have a good day, all. Sorry for the novel, I tend to be very verbose.

welcome shishy

there are many couples in here and families

almost all of them do tend to stick to team games if open games or private games if singles

many consider it unfair to be in a singles game with husband/wife team...

it is your choice, if no one complains it doesnt matter at all...but in open singles games, you do run the risk of it....there are a lot of novices who will prematurely accuse people of cheating anyways...so be warned

and if you ever want to play a doubles match against me and mine...send me a pm....weve played many of the couple doubles, and they are always a blast...enjoy and good luck

yet another 'multiple users in the household' here.

2 of my kids play - Haydena and Aarry (and myself, obviously)

I think that myself and Haydena have played once in a public singles game, and once in a tournement as well.

Other than that it's private games if we want to play each other.

As for team games, we've played a few. If someone wants to cry 'foul' because you are in the same house, just tell them to comminucate with their team mates - that's all you are doing.
The box said 'Requires Windows XP or better'. So I installed Linux.

tbh if you dont actually cheat and both play your best to win i wouldnt have an issue with you playing in the same game just be prepared for some sore losers.

As long as you continue to avoid playing public non-partner games together with other members of your family, I don't see how anyone could have any concern about what you're doing.

Enjoy!
