I've seen Nathan BJ as I constantly check the Scoreboard for people higher rated than me with fewer games. There's a few others worth note as well. Stratagem has had a score well over 2000 and been in the top 100 since he was a lieutenant (fewer than 40 games, not sure what he had at 19). styx666 has a score of 1876 with only 32 games, and his score has gone down the the last 10 or so (maybe higher than Nathan BJ's at 19 games? I don't know, I'm too lazy to check the logs and do the math).
All 3 of them play the exact same type of games: Standard, Escalating, Unlimited. This can be fantastic for points early, but as your score gets higher you get fewer and fewer points for winning and lose more and more for losing. You need to win nearly all your games to keep raising your score, and that simply isn't going to happen in singles games. You can try and combat this by playing in Colonel games, but then all of your opponents are a lot better and you will still eventually hit another cap, just a higher one.
Most of the highest rated people play team games. They don't get very much for winning, but they win the majority of the time. It's the slow, but reliable way to keep increasing your score once you're over 2000.
I'm sure he's a great player and all, but I don't give Nathan good odds of making even 3000 simply because of the game type he plays, and he certainly won't get to 5000.
