this discussion comes up in for montreal about once a month. Don't know the exact answer, but basically the big important people have decided that it's fine without an accent (or at least Montreal is, can't speak for Reykjavik)

Reykjavík, Iceland is only spelled with accent!!!

Have you noticed that you spelled Reykjavik wrong in both the title and the first post :lol:


and yes, I believe you that it can be spelled with an accent, but believe it or not google is not all-powerful. As I said, Canadians say Montreal should be spelled with an accent (it usually is). Obviously you're going to have to wait for an admin response, since I don't exactly speak for CC :P , but the point is they don't really care what Icelanders want or what it "officially" is, alternate Americanized spellings are fine.


also, lack is Canadian. If he's cool with having Montreal unaccented, somehow I don't think he will make Mr Benn change Reykjavik

edit- not only is he Canadian, he is actually from Montreal (according to his profile page)

AMERICANIZED SPELLING!!!!!! They spell Zürich as Zerick they are bad spellers.
