Truce offers not replied to, but his actions...

Postby Ishihara on Wed Jun 30, 2010 11:46 pm

OK, I'm at a loss... I offered a player a truce (and let him keep a territory even though it would have been in my interest and easy to conquer) due to game circumstances. He never replied. It's been a day, he's taken another turn, and nothing. He did empty troops out of the area in question. It's my turn now, but I'm not sure of the etiquette. I commented on it, but he didn't say anything. The game is #7129448. Am I breaking established rules by simply doing what's in my interests, or do I have to try to contact him again (PM, wall, etc)? Just curious what you all think.

You can only do diplomacy in game chat. If he doesn't respond, then you can either assume he agreed to the dealio or he didn't at all. If you attack him and he goes "wtf!" just say he didn't respond to your asking it.

I thought of that after I typed it, Army, about the diplomacy. I guess I just have to make a call on it. I hate to attack and have him feel betrayed. *ugh*

Did he make himself more vulnerable by moving troops. I might take that as him accepting.

He certainly has to understand you needed to go through his area to get to the front and fight the other team with him.

maybe he's hedging his bets. he's going along with your truce, but he has deniability if the other player starts complaining about cheap tactics. diplomacy is allowed, so this doesn't make you a cheap tactician.

eddie, this is bordering breaking the rules. If you do this and have been noted before, I would argue for a ban. Anything gamerelated should go into gamechat.

The post on your wall was right after he posted it in the game chat, but alching has been WARNED for secret diplomacy for his post on Muktuklou wall.

As for the rest in your original post I would like to know what you are accusing them of.

darwin, like i said, do it the way eddie2 wrote it down, might get you warned and then banned.
Just posting on someone's wall like your turn is up is allowed, true

Send a PM, asking him to read what you wrote in the Game Chat. Just to get his attention to the truce proposal.
A post on his wall works just as good.

I'm sure he didn't respond to you because he quite simply didn't read it.

Nothing wrong by doing that. Some may think it's bordering breaking the rules. But in fact, it's not. Why would it be? You're only asking him to respond to something you wrote in the game chat.

I don't see anything wrong with sending a PM saying "read the game chat" and nothing more except the game number.

Yep. Using the word truce in a PM is very borderline. If I were worried I would post this on his wall. "Please read the game chat in game 123456 and reply in game chat"

Simple, effective, and not even getting close to breaking and rules or looking unsportsmanlike.

When I first read his "PM", the wording made it seem like it was secret diplomacy. Though after reading it a bit more, it doesn't cross the line.

Damn people that need to be told to read the chat. =P
