How do you get a better rank icon?

You gain points by defeating other players.
For you, in order to level up to Cadet, you'll need at least 800 points.

Correct. For you, to get to cadet, you need 93 more points.

From the FAQ, located on the Help Page:

10. How do I advance in rank? Can I get demoted?

Players move up and down the rankings as determined by their score and experience. Ranks requirements are explained in the Instructions.
