Game Length

Postby zlackoff on Sun May 02, 2010 2:03 pm

I was just wondering if there are any stats on how long games last (in rounds). Maybe an average, different stats for different game types, spoils etc. I don't imagine there is because there aren't many hidden areas of the site but would there be a way to easily implement something that could get them for you?

I am sorry, i dont think anybody has that info. It could be done by getting all the info of the site into a database and then creating those stats you asked for. I dont know it however.

It would have to depend on what games you are playing. For instance, 8 player games with no cards on a large map? Could last forever. 8 player assassin speed games on a tiny map, could take seconds at times.

Your best bet is to use the gamefinder, click the game options you are looking for(along with 'completed'), and skim through them, you can find a rough average that way.

The average game length will be a lot less then the examples Donald gave, though.

as previously pointed out, there so many variables that affect game length. for example, escalating usually doesn't last that long, but in the hands of all excellent or all poor players, it can go on for quite awhile.

Although zlackoff was looking for the average, that is a cool fact to have :)

If you really want to see these numbers, the best thing may to be ask the creators of map rank to add this to their add on. The add on already goes through the data base of all of the games to find other stats, I don't think this would be a very hard stat for them to add but I don't think anyone has ever asked for it before. I have posted a link to the forum where you can ask.
