Game 5833963

2009-11-02 16:55:59 - GasMask45: I've never played a game with a general before. Emmdizzle, how do you do it? Do you spend a lot of time calculating odds?
2009-11-02 18:23:03 - Emmdizzle: Start multi-team dubs games and invite random players to take one spot of each team. This way you won't have competition. If a decent player joins one of your games make sure to foe him even before the game is over so that you can keep avoiding competition
2009-11-02 18:26:45 - Emmdizzle: Join a clan, so that you can have better players tell you what moves to make in game chat. It's nice to not have to think.
2009-11-03 10:02:25 - aniximo: Emmdizzle for aniximo
2009-11-03 22:27:11 - aniximo: emmdizzle for aniximo
2009-11-04 16:31:16 - Emmdizzle: play with a low ranked partner who will let you take his turns.

Great advice!

if you bother actually clicking into the games, he doesn't say all of this crap. becky, you get all of your points on freestyle because of your fast computer, what's wrong with Emmdizzle getting them because he's good at teams? At least that has to do with "Risk" and not just the money you spend on your electronics

jrh, you raise a good point, but it's all moot based on the innate fact that Emmdizzle is not good at teams.

you got to colonel because your rich (or at least you bought an expensive computer) and you're online all of the time

where's the strategy in either of those? And what are you going to help by creating a flame thread?

 I have a $800 laptop (price 2 years ago when i bought it) on college wifi and was able to make it to brig basically through speed games so i dont see how you have to be rich to be good at freestyle.

I'm quite convinced that even if I did have a 'super-fast computer' I would still be shit at speed freestyle...I just don't think all that quickly.

I've always repected those guys. By the time they've taken 10 territories I'm still in the "Hmm, so what do I fancy having a pop at?" stage... no super-fast computer is going to help me. Shit, I struggle to complete my turns in 5 minutes at speed, sequential flat on maps I know well.

I feel that rather than boosting up Becky and his ilk (He is a chap, right? This has always been unclear to me...) I've just made myself look a bit, well, thick. I wonder if anyone else struggles to play their turns in 5 minutes? I usually need 3-4 minutes to work out a key move and am then struggling to do what I need to do in the time left.

haha. You are right, Mr. C!

I have very nice computers, and yet it takes me 5 minutes just to deploy. And that is after having spent a fair amount of time deciding where to put those troops. I will never be a freestyle player (much less a fantastically fast one), regardless of the awesomeness of my hardware.

Luckily, I can get my socks, trousers, pants, watch and shirt off in exactly 9.2 seconds and I can usually do this without falling over in the process. What I lack in freestyle speed I more than make up for in 'I've scored and let's get at it before she sobers up' speed. I've heard about these chaps (and maybe even chapettes...) who can take 3 territories in one second. Impressive stuff without question. But I'd like to see them unbuckle their belt, drop their trousers and whip on the old man-protection faster than a woman can say "Aren't we moving a little fast?"

So I say to Becky and his/her ilk...you may be fast on CC, but do you have comparable speed in what we like to call reality? For example how fast can you open a jar of instant coffee, pour one teaspoon's worth in mug, pour water, open coffee mate, pour one teaspoon, stir, close jar of coffee, close coffee mate and put said mugs back to the right place?

Or how fast can you get wallet out of trousers, open wallet, get note, (clock stops for the usually retarded shop assistant) receive change, put change back in wallet and put wallet back in pocket?

Or for that matter how fast can you open a new pack of fags, get out the first one (often tricky), light fag, close pack and put it into your pocket?

Don't know about becky but nobody makes insta-coffee faster than me!

See: *brb*

...

...aaaand now my coffee is made! I'm drinking it right now! And it only took me ... to do it!

By the way I totally agree about freestyle & speed games. I don't play either, because I don't like that I have to think my moves in a hurry. I like to contemplate my moves - sometimes I spend 10-15 minutes just staring at the monitor before I click begin turn. Especially planning a crucial kill in escalating games where you're not sure if you have enough troops, and need to calculate where to deploy and how much... I love those kinds of situations. I would hate them on speed games.

It is of my steadfast beliefs that you are quicker than me in this proverbial thing called reality. In truth, my gimp leg and unsightly pimples prevent me from operating with normalcy (or even speed) anywhere outside of the digital realm.

Have a shot at QT dominate (http://www.dominategame.com/website.php?) It's "Risk," flat rate. After a few ass-whoopings, the game gets your mind in that setting to think fast. Just like lighting fags (you're favorite past-time in the redlight district, I do believe), at first it takes some time, but after a few go rounds you become accustomed to and--dare I say--enjoy it...

Cheers, mate =)
