you're listening to the advice given in this thread and are becoming a more competent escalating card player...
I won a game yesterday where I had 1 army left on 1 territory, but had a mixed set with just 3 cards, the dominant player had just eliminated 3 players in his last turn but failed to eliminate me and another player, who had 2 territories left and also had 3 cards, so he owned the whole board except for 3 territories at the end of his turn and lost, he simply should've deployed better once he cashed in the sets he was given midturn and the game would've been over...
another player was irked when I won a game a few days ago, when he ended his turn, he had all of Africa and the ME, and most of Europe, it was a FOW escalating game, so I had territories near the three other players in the game, I had checked the gamelog and saw I could take them all out in my next turn, keeping up with who has how many territories left and where they are is not luck at all, it's called paying attention to detail, I left him with 3 territories after taking out the other three, to which he said "escalating card games are such silliness" when he came back for his next turn, I was thinking to myself, well then, don't play escalating games if that's how you feel...
