Retaliatory Feedback

Postby Whiteberry on Thu Jan 03, 2008 3:23 am

I imagine this subject has come up before, but I can not find it and I don’t remember seeing it before. If it has been discussed before, please forgive me for my redundancy.

In the rules for Conquer Club under feedback it says “Do not leave retaliatory feedback (i.e. leave negative feedback in revenge of negative feedback).”

What I have noticed is that in most cases two players will have a disagreement about something that happened during their game and then each player will want to leave a negative feedback against each other. Any time this happens the first player to leave the negative feedback will often complain against retaliatory feedback when the second player leaves his negative feedback in return. In actuality each player may have a real complaint about the way the other player is playing. After all it’s one persons opinion against another. Can someone please explain to me when a negative feedback is indeed retaliatory compared to when two negatives are justified?

If the second FB is not factual it is retaliatory.

If the second FB refurs to the first FB it is retaliatory .

If the second FB refurs to a trivial thing such as missing a turn or calling somebody a "noob" etc it is retaliatory.

Can't think of more examples right now, just woke up.

Is there a specific feedback that you are wondering about?

it also very much depends upon the situation...

if someone starts with offensive remarks, suicidal play, etc. and the other person mentions it... leaving a neg feedback for the person who complained about the abusive behavior would probably be retalitory...

if however, both players fly of the handle, and start suicide attacking, being offensive to each other, neg feedbacks may be acceptable for both

worded properly almost anyone can leave a negative feedback, but more often then not, when i see an unwarranted one, i put the one who left it on my ignore list, as do many others... though a person may think hes getting the upper hand, hes really making himself look like an idiot

Here's a post I made way back when on it. Let me know if you still have questions.

Retaliatory feedbacks are often hard to tell, and very often several of us will discuss ones that aren't clear. Very often, both players are upset with each other about how the game was played or turned out and both will leave feedback. As long as it's about what happened in the game, we won't delete it. Yes there are quite a few that are left in retaliation, but are impossible for us to tell if that was the intent. When in doubt, we don't delete.

I personally get around this problem by not leaving negative feedbacks over lousy play or disagreements. Everyone plays lousy at some point, so what's the use? Get over it and move on. It's just a game ya know. ;-)

No, that would be considered revenge feedback and would be deleted if it's brought to a mod's attention.

It is not a race to see who can leave negative first. I read both feedbacks first before even looking at the time stamp. Some are obvious, as in the case you state above, but mostly it's a grey area. If it's not clear to a 3rd party that the feedback was left as retaliation, it won't be deleted. Basically what I look at is, is he responding to the feedback left for him.

Here are some examples of feedback deleted for being retaliatory:

leaves very rude feedbacks that dont in any way follow
guidlines

R U SEREOUS MAN. u won the game and U give me feedback because I used CAPS. WELL I GOT NEWS FOR U MAN. U WON AND ME AND BLUE WERE FIGHTING NOT U SO DELETE THE FEEDBACK AND ILL GET RID OF URS. BUT IT WAS NOT UR FIGHT SO I SUGGEST U NOT STICK YOUR FAT NOSE IN OTHER PEOPLE'S BUISINESS

Whatever man!!! Green was the biggest Threat and u even know it thats that bad thing. But he was mad because I did not attack the other people because he screwed me over and didn't even attack the other guy. This guy is not FAIR at all in leaving Bad feedback for me because I don't deserve it and this guy just needs to find another day job

agree with wicked. i don't leave negs for bad or crappy play. it has to be monumental for me to leave neg feedback, and even those are removed if the person pm's and we resolve it. i just think it takes more than bad play to get neg feedback. if that were the criteria, my feedbacks would be 72-280!!!!-0
