Yeti, first off, Risk was joking with you completely.. he does that

secondly, 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of the players would never complain about BOB.

I love BOB, Id marry BOB...hes the bestest thing ever. DO NOT assume there are millions of complaints out there, and I would have gladly paid an anual fee to download it... gladly. I think you should charge to be honest. But dont get discouraged that some dont appreciate it.... There is no way to make everyone happy all of the time...You did it for free...

Thank YOU!

To any that are annoying him, I hope to god you cant afford the service when he starts charging for it :D

I understand when a script like this can screw you up. It sucks and can lose you games. But, taking out your frustrations on the person who made the script is totally out of line.

Bring your concerns.

Bring your suggestions.

yeti_c is very willing and able to address them. And, he does it quite promptly.

Remember, even though the interface might have 'caused' the mistake, YOU are the one that actually clicked the button. I've made the same mistakes, and we have a right to be frustrated by certain inconsistencies. But, a kind, "Hey this doesn't work like it should" or "This thing is screwing me over on a regular basis" goes a lot farther than, "I'm pissed and it's your fault" or a "I'm mad at you for making this thing that screwed you over"

So, apologize where necessary and let us move on to more world domination!

the voluntary work and time yeti has put into this code and site in general should be commended not criticised.

Yeti please ignore those that criticise you as distinct from your script, the vast majority of users think you are a God for the work you have done - a group im happy to consider myself part of. I have followed this thread since its inception and I find it truly remarkable how quickly you respond to issues and improve the script.

Yes, I can pay better attention and I do now. I do however feel I got the short end of the stick when the buttons moved and I got screwed. I am fully aware that the buttons don't move around anymore, and I am happy with the fix. I also believe that I had every right to voice my complaint at the time of the original occurance. Whether or not it was done in the most "proper" of manners is up for debate, but as a player at the time I was upset and voiced that displeasure.

everybody is angry when a game is lost. the first urge is to find a scapegoat and bob was the perfect solution. blame the floating buttons.
that's cool. no problem blame them all you want, curse them and kick the monitor and after you cool down come to this thread and calmly and politely make the suggestion that the buttons are a problem and perhaps even offer a suggestion for yeti to improve things. bitching solves nothing. all the grief and anger you put into your words doesn't get you the points back. it only does harm to yeti to you and to all the people spending time talking here.

a simple "yeti, could you please make the floating buttons stick to one place?" would have done wonders.

Just a quick thought Yeti_c, might help to have a "depricated" download area where previous versions can be downloaded so that those that want an older version can grab it as they desire. No support is given on previous versions except the case where a previous fix failed.

I did not mean to insult yeti_c personally if that's the way it came across. I do commend him for his work, but very few people on this site get paid to contribute. The mods, officers, map makers, tournament organizers, and clan leaders all make contributions, but that doesn't mean their products aren't criticized. I do try to make a positive contribution, as rebelman stated, and I'm sorry if my comments were perceived as too harsh. I was trying to criticize the product that was put forth (which has hence been dealt with) and not the person who produced it. It wasn't necessary for everyone else to make it a personal attack against me.

This thread should be open for those who disagree with what was updated, even if they don't do it in a tactful manner. Not everyone will post tactfully; everyone has off days. Please don't flame us when that happens.

By the way, I will continue to use BOB because it is a very helpful script. I even went through it the other day and explained it to my girlfriend to help her use it. Now, I vote that we let this thread carry on with updates/suggestions/criticisms and get ourselves back to conquering.

Geez, I got fastposted several times.

I don't want to prolong this phase of the thread unnecessarily, but - for the sake of accuracy - no one made any personal attacks on you Night Strike. Rather many people made personal defences of yeti_c.

And yes the thread is open for constructive criticism. And, if this isn't done in a tactful manner, the community responds appropriately as we've seen. In it's response the community has not resorted to flaming.

yeti_c I'm sure will recover soon enough. He loves his javamonkeyscript stuff too much to leave it alone for long ;)

You've shown yourself to be reasonable and mature in reflecting on what has passed.

As others have said - let's get back to world domination!

I don't think the site he uses supports that, but I'd be happy to host all the older versions if he still has them around.

You're correct - it's a one version only site...

Also - I haven't kept any old copies!! (Which I know is a bit poor - But I've been developing this on 4 different PC's since it's inception)

OK Guys...

I've had a thought about upgrades and testing...

And I've come up with a plan... And this only works for 3.6.x +.

OK - I will code up and release BOB in here and on userscripts... so the people that pay attention to this thread can download the new code whenever it's available...

Then, say, a day later - I will upgrade the BOB support script with the new version number(s)...

This will then inform people that there is an upgrade available that's been tested (a bit).

Now this doesn't guarantee that BOB will be tested when it's upgraded... but it will help.

So what I need from you regular commenter guys... is whenever a new BOB is released in here then download it - give it a go and get back to me with feedback... if no feedback - then I will release it to the public...

With a bit of luck this will minimise whingers and maximise good code hitting the masses.

Any Comments?

C.

PS I know a lot of people have the latest 3.6.1 version - as the support script has been downloaded a LOT of times!!! (It will get downloaded on initial load and on action)

I suggest that options are extended to "site | in game | off".

BTW - I found an interesting article here...

http://wiki.greasespot.net/Cross-browser_userscripting

And this is an interesting IEPro script...

http://www.iescripts.org/view-scripts-217p1.htm

With this we might be able to give BOB to IE users!? (Although I'm NOT doing cross browser testing)

i second this one. i like it in the game but not on the site.
and one more thing, can the dice appear right above the floating bar instead of the top of the screen?? it's easier to press attack move eyes 1 inch above see dice and click attack again.
