yeah but it may confuse people at first when they are expecting the clock to be working and they don't think to look in the prefs.

Bob stopped working

Postby jpliberty on Wed Jul 02, 2008 6:17 pm

I received two or three updates for Bob today, and installed them. When I installed the last one, Grease Monkey disappeared from the taskbar.

I have tried to uninstall GreaseMonkey and Bob but can't...I try under the tools menu.

For what it's worth, I can't uninstall any add-ons.

Right after I installed the last of today's Bob updates I received an update from Firefox...

So, I don't know if this is a Bob only bug or if Bob is just incompatible with the newly updated Firefox.

Er - BOB works fine with FF3 -> However you need to ensure that you have the latest version of Greasemonkey too. (version 0.8xxx)

On another note - bit confused by you saying you had 3 updates of BOB today? BOB was only updated on Monday... could it be that you're thinking of "Map Rank"?

They were Map Rank Script updates i believe Yeti! ... it asks you to do it automatically and this was the beginning of the trouble!

jpliberty, thanks for the link mate! Yeti is quite right though if you download the FF3 and get the latest - Greasmonkey Script, then the new BOB it works fine. (i did do all but obviously not in the right order)

Our problem came yeti as the new FF accompanied with the Map Rank Script stripped all the user-scripts out. BOB INSTALLATION

Get FF3 - then Greasemnkey- restart and then get BOB

thanks mate.

No probs... I actually got new GM before FF3 - perhaps that's the best technique?

Bob works with FireFox 3 but Notifier doesn't work

Postby jpliberty on Thu Jul 03, 2008 10:35 am

Thanks all. I was able to get Bob going on Firefox 3.

The conquerclub notifier is for the older Firefox however, so that doesn't work...too bad, I like that little thing

Yeah - I believe that it has been upgraded - but is awaiting certification before it can be released.

Re: BOB Bugs

Postby azezzo on Sat Jul 05, 2008 11:17 am

the past few days i have noticed that when i am using bob the clock ticks down but my screen doesnt update in my speed games, so then i refresh the screen and see that the other player had already taken his turn and now is waiting on me, some kind of a lag situation. this happens ocasionally.

Some basic info, I only use bob about 10% of the time
I normally open cc with my normal windows internet explorer and play that way without bob
but depending on the situation i will open mozilla firefox after i am already on thru windows I.E., leaving I.E. open and use bob as needed, i prefer the look of I.E. to firefox, just a preference. I do not seem to be having this lag with the windows I.E. screen

Also when using bob my screen seems to hiccup (slightly jump up) when i attack and take a territory, when I am attacking the top of a map this can be a problem as then i need to scroll down the page to see and attack again. This seems to happen all the time, I've just been to lazy to say anything about it b4

Azzezzo - Is it possible that you have "Jump to Map" on?

It makes the screen jump to the top of the map upon initial load - and after every action.

So if you turn it off - you won't get the "hiccup"ing problem!!!

In regards to this - BOB doesn't refresh the screen - but the site does - so if you think someone is about to end their turn - you need to press "refresh map".

it doesnt refresh you say, what about in a sequential game and u are waiting for your opponent to start, from memory bob has updated faster than I.E. meaning that if i am waiting on bob when the opponent starts his turn i used to see it faster, i thought it would show up when it happened rather than in 10 second intervals, that seems to b off as well now
thanks 4 the help

I can't get BOB working with the Scotland map, it just says something about initialising magic map then I have to turn off greasemonkey, kind of a hassle doing this every time I take a turn in Scotland. Do you know why this is the case?
