Firefox 3

Postby Hologram on Tue Jun 17, 2008 9:20 pm

What's the ETA on the new greasemonkey add on and subsequently the new Bob script for Firefox 3? Or did I miss something in my 15 minutes of having Firefox 3?

firefox 3 is the newest version of firefox. just released today. i suggest that you download it if you are still using Firefox 2. [click here] to download

The newest updated version of Greasemonkey should work with FF3.
[click here]if you don't have the most recent version.
All my greasemonkey scripts still work.

ConquerTell (firefox addon) doesn't work right now. Check its thread here in the forums and they might have an update.

The newest version of Greasemonkey works with FF3. And the author of ConquerTell said that he was working on an FF3-compatible version in his thread.

Also, I noticed that the maps and army numbers look fuzzy with FF3. Maybe it's my theme or something... has anyone else had the problem? I can still play, but it's hard to distinguish colors. :|

Huh, I'm getting an installation error 203. Probably not good.

What version of GM do you have? Version 0.8.20080609.0 is the latest. If you do not have this one, on the Firefox toolbar click Tools>Add-Ons. Make sure you are in the Extensions tab. Click on GM then at the bottom click Find Updates.

Blitz, you only need to download firefox 3. It will uninstall the old version for you. If you have the newest version of greasemonkey there should be no problems with that or BOB. GM is on version 0.8.20080609.0 just so you can check.

if you have the newest script from chip ( I think that was him who wrote it) it should work already with your new Firefox 3.0.1

if you have the older one just go grab it again like you would any other script

then un-check Rank and Points.... run map rank
Re Check Rank and Points and it should run fine from there .. or it was something like that .... can't remember now

Map Rank should work as long as you have the new GM. The only script you would need to get again is Conquer Tell. The newest version is 1.1.9, just in case. All of the other scripts are run through GM so they do not need to change (or at least should not).

My wife upgraded the computer to FF 3 and now I can't get greasemonkey to install. At the Greasemonkey site it says version 0.8 should work but I get a 203 installation error. Any advice much appreciated.

I'm actually dealing with this now .... seems like some people that installed Firefox 3.0.1...Greasemonkey doesn't work or disappears from the lower right hand corner .... odd, mine installed without a hitch and this computer sucks the south side of a north facing mule .....

I'll post what we did to fix it if we get it up and running in a few minutes here .... still trying

ok from my understanding there is a corrupt file in the extension profiles or some crap ...

now everything i have tried on one person's computer DID NOTHING

from creating a new profile inside of Firefox ..... never mind I could go on and on
run > firefox -Profilemanager ... creat a new profile .... restart firefox and try to install the Monkey again ... if that doesn't work you can try to uninstall Firefox (making sure you check the box that says remove all profiles and such ) and reinstall .... that helped some people but not all .... and if all else fails i say just go back to Firefox 2 ... this issue will be resolved sometime soon and you can upgrade later ...
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html go there and just install the older version for now ....

I can't even tell you how long i tried to get it to work on someone's computer with no success !
In all honesty I'm no computer tech but from my research and 3 hours of messing with it that is the conclusion i have come to

If you are getting corrupt extension file problems or 203 errors here is what to do: (Also gives tips on other problems too)

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_ins ... _-_Firefox

Go to the Corrupt Extensions Files section.

Follow the advice in the Note and rename the files rather than deleting them.

that didn't work chip ... I looked for the xpi to rename it and it didn't work ... I think these fixes are working for some and aren't for others .....
