Turning no-spoils game into flat-rated

Concise description:
  • I suggest to make an option which would turn no-spoils game into flat-rate from round X (which could be 30, 50, etc).

Specifics:
  • Quite often no-spoils games turn into deadlocks where everyone stacks his/her armies endlessly, because it's usually unrewarding to attack first as it requires a big part of your army to be killed in order to change the situation in a game AND other players (who weren't affected by your attack) can hit at you then and start dominating in the game.
  • I think that in most cases the outcome of such deadlocks is decided by who got a more impatient neighbour. The winner is largely decided by who wasn't attacked by the first player who lost patience in that neverending deadlock. It's not fun to win just because one of the players lost patience and attacked another and they destroyed half of their armies. To lose the game just for being the target of impatient player is even more "not fun".

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • It will encourage players to be more aggressive, not just stack all your army and just wait, wait, wait, wait endlessly.
  • Flat-rate spoils won't do immediate impact to the game, but players may (or not) go for spoils for their long-term success.

I think the only time it makes sense to play no spoils is in team games, otherwise, you do get the "impatient neighbor" factor. Is there anyone out there who actually likes no spoils games, and can give a good explanation of why they are fun?

Less reliance upon luck, sure, drop becomes a bit more important in no spoils games then in escalating games, but the luck of the 3 card set disappears.

negative on the suggestion. Flat rate will not change a build game. Even escalating will not stop buildgames on a great map although they are much rarer to see.
I'd much rather see the atombomb suggestion, we all destroy our troops and continue from there.

I prefer no-spoils games. I consider no-spoils games to be more strategic and less luck-driven than either of the other two options.

And I agree with SirSebstar...changing no-spoils to flat-rate will have ZERO impact on 95% of build games (and shouldn't on the other 5%).
