Taking Turns Slowly Purposefully

Postby Hockeyruler on Tue Oct 20, 2009 9:01 pm

Specifics:
  • Some sort of punishment to be implemented on people purposefully not taking their turns until the last second.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • Opposing players won't drop out from boredom
  • Game limit won't be reached waiting for players to move who are purposefully waiting
  • Slow players won't have an unfair win/loss ratio because they take twice as long to finish their losing games

If I did this wrong I apologize, I tried to check the thread to make sure this hasn't been posted and I don't think it has. I just know that right now I'm in a game with a player who messaged me after I took my turn, but wouldn't take his, and hasn't taken his until the last 30 mins for the last 3 turns. I'm assuming since he just reached the rank of Conqueror he has been taking his turns in other games though... :/

People have 24 hours to take their turns. They shouldn't be punished for not taking them faster. If you would like faster games, buy premium and play speed games.

I guess my point here is that they are PURPOSEFULLY not taking them faster. Since there are no advantages to this in the game format, the only reason I can see them doing this is to make me skip a turn accidentally. Unless I'm missing something.

I don't take my turns as soon as they are available. People take time to browse the forums or plan out their moves because they know they have the 24 hours. If you make sure you are online at least twice a day (morning and night), you will never miss a turn.

OK, I will concede to you that point :) Even if I still object to being played to pay money :P

try to visit the live chat callout section and advertise that your looking for Real Time (rt) games... these players will typically take their turns within the first minute of it being available, that might help your problem of having to wait

and try to note that some premiums are in many many games (80+) and focusing more on tournament games so it takes a long time to take a turn even if they are online

I'm not looking for real time right now, but I have done that before it's great thanks.

Judging by the PM I just got from the guy he is definitely available and has time to take his turn :) Just isn't planning on it until the last second.

Thanks for the help though.

It's still obviously beyond you.

Believe it or not but I spend time planning my next turn in every game that I play. I will take my turn when I am good and ready to. Do you honestly think I give a f*ck that this inconveniences you? Set aside $25 form your next welfare check and you too can have the luxury of knowing what it's like to not have to worry about how many open game slots you have.

Boo-fucking-hoo. I doubt it will hurt anyone's feelings if you quit playing public games...You're playing for free off of the backs of the people like myself that actually pay to support this site anyway.

Sorry about your little butt (yea I heard about that)

While I agree everybody has 24 hours to take the moves, waiting till the last minute is a rather lame things to do. If it was a team game and you were waiting to talk with a partner then OK I can see it, but not in a 1 vs 1. Take your loss/win and move on.

Oh shit. We are in for it now. Not only do people demand and scream to have rules interpreted creatively and enforced based on who screams loudest now they want punishments handed out for FOLLOWING the rules. 24 hours means 24 hours. Yes it sucks sometimes but oh freaking well. I'm gonna stop taking turns until I have an hour left just cuz of this.

Maybe suggest something constructive. Like being able to set the turn time rules. Like 24 hour & 12 hour. You want faster buy premium & play speed.

No where near as maddening as the hoards of dip shits who piss and moan about you using close to your full 5 min in a speed game.

Should there be a punishment for players that take their turns to quickly?

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
    Hockeyruler wrote:
  • Opposing players won't drop out from boredom

  • Players who play slow might drop out from being pressured to play fast.

    Hockeyruler wrote:

  • Like it has been suggested buy premium and play unlimited games.

How does playing slow give you an unfair won/loss record? A win is a win and a loss is a loss no matter how fast the game is played.
