Maybe we should take the original map, re-draw it, color it differently, and thus avoid copyright restrictions.:

That is indeed a great idea.

World Cities is the classic map, and although visually it seems different, it appears (to me) to be the same territory nexus, and is exactly the same bonuses. I have to say, World Cities is a great job

It is exactly the same, the world has just shifted a bit ;) If you really look at it, you'd see it's the same. Same territory amount, bonuses, layout of territories and bonuses. Just looks different with different names. Pleasing to the eye as well, if this was made a map, I'd definitely play it! ;)

Somehow an "I just attacked New York" print just won't have the same ring to it.

isn't Classic Shapes, the map that covers the gameplay of the copyrighted map, but looks different?

I mean.. what more are you looking for exactly?

How about World 2.1?

I mean.. Classic Shapes has the same gameplay as the "original", and World 2.1 has the same look/map.

Do you really have some sort of unsatisfiable craving for Hasbro's Risk Map, that we can't run here?

Expect an announcement, that may relate to all this discussion, to come out in the next couple of weeks.

I agree.

Sully really needs to incorporate Kamchatka into the World Cities map.

for the record, we dont want something that has the same territories and bonuses as the classic risk board, we want one that looks like it.

Unfortunately, due to copyright laws, this is impossible. Classic Shapes, Classic are, and Sully's new map (which looks great, although Kamchatka needs to be added) are as close as we are going to get to the board game.

Then you may need to go start your own site and hope Hasbro doesn't find it.

Yeah, and while we're at it, lets have the Palo map, where if we change on letter in everything, it's avoiding copyright!

ALso, the Wigimon, Roke'mon, Yellow Kitty, and World Tresling Entertainment maps will be great! Because copyright laws will never, ever effect one letter changes and using crayons to make the colors a bit different!

Yay for being Pmart! (That's smart, but I think there are some copyright issues..)

Ok, I think we've established that it isn't easy to get around copyright just by making very minor adjustments. However, as Andy said, await an announcement that may relate to this thread soon.

obviously we cant just color it differently, what i was trying to say was if we make enough changes to the origional risk map, we can avoid copyright infringements and still be able to play on a map that resemble the classic origional risk map that i grew up on. i realy hope the announcement is that theres going to be a new map like that.

Without some sort of deal with Hasbro I can't see anything with less changes than Classic Art/Shapes getting around copyright laws. Unless you would be OK with a changed gameplay that is...

I like how Washington D.C. is apparently not a major city.
