The numbers aren't large enough

You guys need to come up with a better way of showing who occupies what. Maybe a colored circle with the number of units displayed in it would work better than numbers that are one pixel thick with a black border.

I'm red, fighting a guy who's magenta and I can't tell what's going on. :P

The numbers are fine, you're just slightly colorblind.

Press the "add color codes" button that is left of the "refresh map" button in your games.

Also, BOB will put indicators around the territs when you hover over a player's name.

Not really a solution, but maybe something that you might benefit from.

A while ago lack discussed adding a swatch of color around each number, so you would have white or black text inside a colored button. Since the button has a larger contiguous area of color, most users would be able to tell the colors apart more easily.

The main problem is graphics. Currently maps have army shadows of different sizes and shapes, so some would be covered completely, others partially covered, and overall it would look pretty bad. Additionally some coordinates are close to borders/lines/text that could be covered by the button and therefore affect gameplay. Then you have the problem of 3 digit numbers - should the swatch become an oval button instead of a massive circle? Then that would look even weirder in cases where existing shadows are partially covered.

Overall I think this might have been a good idea in 2005. The site is coming up on 4 years old though, and there would be significant problems with trying to make this switch now.

I'm not slightly colorblind. I can tell the difference between red and magenta. I'm blind blind. :/

A site can't evolve? ;)

There a reason you skipped the second half of Neon's post?

Yeah. I think that looks dumpy. ;)

The site has evolved, and that's the problem. We have what, 150 maps now? They were all created based on the current size, shape and color of the numbers. Drastically changing the numbers means you may create problems in nearly 150 maps (large and small) so that would require months of revamping and redrawing and fixing. It's just not a good solution at this point IMO.

So for the color blind among us, there are color blind codes. If you would prefer using the grease monkey add on (BOB) it will highlight all territories for each player, which looks a lot nicer but requires you to use firefox and install a user made script. The color codes are at least an adequate solution for the general populace, because even if you made larger color swatches some people would still be unable to distinguish the colors.
