reserved positions in public games

Hello, Please rescind the practice of allowing reserved positions in so-called "public" games. If everyone starts reserving positions in games they will no longer be public. It's hypocritical to call them public if this continues to be allowed. Just ridiculous in my opinion that it's being permitted. Yours sincerely, a longtime member.

What's the point of having a reserved spot in a private game that only people that know the password can get to?

One of the main points that this "practice" allows is to be able to make team games, have team 1 be only you and your friends, and leave the other team(s) open for anyone who wants to play against your team. Seeing as how long people have been begging for this, I don't think it's going anywhere.

Seems like a great benefit to be able to choose your teammates rather than getting stuck with whoever joins your game.

I think having invites is fine, but once there are ONLY reserved spots, it should not be listed any longer in the public games.

There should be a way to find JUST those with "reserved" places when doing a game search -- either placed in its own category (I believe this is an active suggestion) OR placed at the bottom of the public list. The advantage of the latter would be that people would know it is a public game.

Hello, thanks for the input. My point isn't that it's not a conveneience or a solution to team game problems but that you should no longer consider reserved position games "public" games - they're the exact opposite when you start excluding who can play - c'mon , it's ludicrous to say otherwise.. thnx.. call them "sort-of-public games-kinda-maybe"

You're completely missing the conclusion to my argument - if you exclude players from joining games by reserving positions then these games with even one reserved position in them are no longer 'public' at all.

Everyone seems to be missing the point of my argument - "if you exclude people from joining public games by instituting reserved positions for your CC buddies then these games are no longer 'public' at all "- no matter how much work lack did it doesn't make it right - equal access to public games or change CC to a private and semi-private format.

Another player that completely misses the thrust of my argument - " if you start excluding players through reservations to allow to pick and choose teammates etc., then these games are no longer 'public' . Doesn't anyone see the ridiculous irony of this? As an analogy it's like saying , "Hey, that's a really efficient hosptial, but it has no patients". The whole idea of 'private' games was to allow you to pick and choose teammates, transferring this to the public games realm as well is just outrageous hypocrisy, in my opinion.

This is fine if everyone KNOWS this is what has happened. The problem is right now, once your friends have joined, your team looks no different from any random group of people. This is they very reason I and many other people plain avoid team games. I fail to see how allowing these "ambushes" is in any way helping the site.

These reserved spot don't exclude anyone. Unless all the spots in the game have been reserved, it's still open to the public.

At first, my thoughts were "what does it matter, except in team games?". The difference between playing a group of friends who happen to join at the same time and reserving a few spots for friends did not seem that great, (except in teams). However, it sounds like it makes a big difference to ahole.

One problem I can see is that if certain spots are reserved, then there is much more potential for farming and multi abuse. In a normal game, people can tell others and then wait for them to join, but its still "first come/first served". Here, you can join a game started by a private, not know that they have invited several sergeants.

For newer people or people who don't play regularly, it might be nice to know in advance if you are playing a group of friends or just a group.

Ahole - I agree and don't want the argument I'm making to deteriorate into semantics, b ut really folks, public means EQUAL ACCESS FOR ALL and reserving ANY positions in a PUBLIC offering of games makes them no longer PUBLIC. Sorry for the caps, but everyone seems to be miising the most basic premise of what makes the word public 'public' by definition.

We're not missing it. We just don't see it as as much of a problem as you do.

As long as there are still spots open to everyone, it's still a public game, in my mind.

Hello, Everyone in CC seems to be completely missing my point about "reserving positions in public games" ( an oxymoronic statement in my opinion). Once you start reserving positions for your friends and buddies, team game or not, then the PUBLIC games are no longer public at all. Are you all so rank obsessed no one seems to want to be honest about this? If CC is going to do this permanently then let's not call these games 'public' anymore. No matter how everyone in CC wants to slice or dice their argument that it is still public access to these games the fact remains reserving positions excludes people (the public especially) from entering these games. Also, bad marketing to new members that unwittingly get slaughtered by these teams.

How can you say tou're not missing it ? What you mean to say is, "Iknow it's not in the spirit or definition of what's considered public but I don't care"

No. I completely understand what you're saying. I just think you're over-reacting.

if you don't like the games that are waiting, just start your own.
