Clans and Social Groups

Dear players,
I have some suggestions which are related to the forum of Conquer Club.
Recently, I have browsed through the forums "Clan" and "Callouts" which are ruled by the moderator group "Clan Directors". For the forum "Callouts", it is mainly used for players to announce different matters or to invite people to do something. Also, I found a sub-forum called "Social Groups" in the "Callouts" forum.
My suggestion is to change the name of the forum "Clan" into "Groups", which can be divided into two parts, original clans (competitive clans) and social groups (common interests). That means the sub-forum "Social Groups" in the forum "Callouts" will be moved to "Groups". And for the forum "Callouts", we can still keep it.
What do you guys think about my suggestions?
Regards,
Scania N113

Love the suggestion! The word "clan" evokes some ugly imagery of racism and intolerance from history of the USA. "Groups" is a, generally, more inclusive word.
Let's make this happen, gang!

Actually this is just a suggestion. If you ask why I want such changes, I will tell you that I think the current arrangement is a bit messy. If I put competitive clans and social groups together and form a forum called "Groups", it seems neat.

Really, that seems more like it would be too cluttered. Much like it was back when it was just clans(Both included), or at least how I remember. I'm pretty sure they changed it to the current from your suggestion.

I think "Callouts" can still be kept, but not for "Social Groups". It can still be used for some invitations or organising common games.

What did I suggest? I do not understand what you are talking about.

Clans is just for clans, competitive clans. Nothing else. If you throw the social usergroups in there it will just be confusing, even if you label them.

Well, that is why I have also suggested changing the name into "Groups". Then we can mark which ones are competitive clans and which ones are non-competitive groups (social groups). If you say "nothing else", I think "Social Groups" are different from common callouts.

What "social group" forum are you on about??? The only one there is is about
starting a new usergroup (and that is why it is placed in callouts).

This type of change happened here:
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=91027Clans is a well known term in many many gaming sites. We used to put all groups together in one area, and now a distinction is being made (although somewhat informally all over the site) with the formal separation and clarification of
Competitive Clans and
Social Usergroups.

Well, if you guys do not like putting clans and social groups in the same forum, I have a better suggestion. If the forum "Clan" is used for recruiting new members, I think social groups should have their own forum for recruiting new members as well. So what I suggest is to pull "Social Group" out of the forum "Callouts".

There is already a Create/Join a Social Usergroup at
viewforum.php?f=444You are suggesting to promote a sub-forum with 69 topics to become a major forum?
What would be the benefits?

In fact, if we pull out the forum "Social Groups" to the main page, we can add more contents into it other than just 69 topics. And it can work like the forum "Clans". Then the leader of a social group can talk more about his own group in the new forum. Also, I think clans and social groups should be on the same stage.

Social leaders already have that opportunity in the recruitment thread as they have the ability to edit the first post (if they made the thread) and post additional information later on.
Also, I think clans and social groups should be on the same stage.
I will disagree with that. Clans participate in thousands of games each year formally and is one of the fastest growing parts of the site. There are a few social groups that do play significant number of games, however, there only a few of these groups. Most social groups are a conversational in nature. I have seen many social groups deleted due to inactivity.

What more content??? Social Usergroups have no need for the extra content that the clans have. All they need IS the create/join forum.

I agree that the callouts forum is a strange place to put the "join/create social usergroup".
It's a strange fit, but it's the best fit in my opinion. (better to keep seperate from competitive clans, and callouts is the best place for it for now)
