Suggestion: Open Teams

Concise description:
  • Suggestion for a new Game Type that is a cross between a standard game and a team game.

Specifics:
  • There are no formal teams in the game.
  • Any player has the option to deploy or reinforce their own troops onto any other players territory.
  • There is no "team chat" - any discussed alliances/moves are to posted in public chat.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • It will create a completely new style of play.

Not sure what you whether you could have Fog of War with a game like this so I didn't include any suggestions on that.

Can't see this leading to anything but a lot of sour grapes about broken alliances and I'm quite sure I'd never use it. But if people would like to play it why not...

(has some potential for abuse by multies that the mods might not like though)

I don't see the benefit.

The only idea that comes from this that I can think of is dynamic diplomacy during the game (ala Civilization style). You could form teams and break them during the game.

I can imagine this being interesting in Ass-Doodle games when one person is about to be eliminated....everyone suddenly drops on the weakest player (apart from one), who then has the force to win

This count be fascinating if done well :)

The "only" idea... that is the idea.

The benefit would be for those interested in playing games like this (e.g. people other than yourself).

I didn't think about the multies - it would be open to abuse by them. :( Would this be any worse than multies using the current team games?

Very much so I suppose as it couples some of the "surprise" effect (of a team play) from standard games with the "deploy on each other" effect from team games.

I kinda like this idea, but one thought that did cross my mind :? , would you be able to have a secret alliance as well :?: eg: don't plainly show in game that you are teaming up, but pm each other anyways ,with a future attack plan.

Seeing as that is prohibited in general I would think not. But you could just dump some armies on a territ (belonging to someone else) if he can do damage to another opponent. No strings and all that. :D
