Fog of war

Fog of war gives information it should not:
- Fog of war tells you how many domains the enemy controls, even if you can not see them all.
- It tells you how many troops the enemy has gotten from the whole of X, it doesn't tell you what complete area the enemy controls is, but you usually know by the quantity of troops received because of this.
Fog of war doesn't tell you information it should:- What domains the enemy has conquered that you have a presence next to.
- Which of your domains the enemy has conquered (hello, its my domain, it should tell me!)
- Reenforcement shifts you have domains next to. If you are next to to the sending domain, it should tell you what domain sent them. If you are next to the receiving domain, it should tell you what domain received them.
Another piece of information to keep in mind when they cause logs to tell you what domains have been attacked.
- Every time a domain is attacked by a domain you control (either from or to) it tells you. otherwise it tells you nothing (not even that an attack occurred)
This will improve the the game by:Well this should be obvious, but by improving fog of war so it tells and hides the correct information, that option will become more attractive. Which adds variety which makes a game more fun.

Agreed. Iff I'm not online for a first turn on FoW I can't tell what territories I started with at times which can really suck.

If you would like to see a new kind of fog, where it tells less, show your support

Well I want it to tell more in some areas too. I want to be able to know who I am waiting for, as far as whos turn it is. Also For their moves, as I said it should tell you what they do that you see because you are next to it or experience it.

Bumping this topic, a new fog of war game I joined by accident (didn't notice fog of war was on) is reminding me of the current fog of war's faults.

What does you winning and losing with fog on have to do with it?

Does anyone see a reason that the game shouldn't tell us what spots have been conquered near/from us?
Anyone see a reason it should tell you what what zones the enemy controls?
I figure if fog of war gave information about spots next to the ones we control, someone would have more reason to control spots that have no normal strategic value, but would be useful for information.

You see whats next to you. If you want info about areas you don't see go explore. It's the strategy of fog games.

Except the info window does not work like this. To know what I am talking about, just read the thread.

But you DON'T necessarily see what's next to you. If I don't take the first turn, and someone captures a territory of mine...then I don't see what was next to that territory, EVEN THOUGH I OWNED IT. Now, I don't think I need to know what all of the territories next to it contained, but I DO think it makes basic common sense that I would know WHO attacked my territory and WHERE they attacked my territory from, rather than my not knowing anything at all.

Exactly woodruff, that is just part of how very flawed the current system is. The info windo is at the heart of most of the problems with the fog system. Perhaps when they fix up the info window to give information like who attacked you from where, they will fix this too. But we need to give this support so that they will have it in mind when they get around to it.

I fully agree and I would like to add another point here which I've brought up before.
Exchanging cards... If I'm playing Feudal War for instance where you only start off in a single area, and i exchange a set where I own one of the territories, the log says "got bonus of 2 troops added to X" which completely gives away my position. And if log doesn't say anything about a bonus then it still tells my opponents where I'm not and that _could_ also give away some information. My suggestion is that in fog games, the log only says, "cashed in a group of blue, blue and green" "got a bonus of 2 troops added to ?". Unless it is a neighbouring territory in which case this suggestion would mean that the person next to you will see "got a bonus of 2 troops added to X"
CC is very competitive and I feel that making the log in FoW games a little more refined is totally worth it.

Sorry my bad. The log does say "got bonus of 2 troops added to ?" but it still shows the three possible territs that you might be occupying.

Consider this a *bump* for the time being, I'll add more thoughts when I get a bit more time.
Mainly I agree with TP but I would have a bit different definition of what is and isn't shown. Also, as I said in the that thread, I find the super fog suggestion too restricting.
