"show this message to teammates only" button fix

Concise description:- Move the "post message" button down or make the text, "note to self" & "show this message to teammates only" unclickable.
Specifics:- Only be able to check the small box that is there, not the text. OR, AND...
- Move the "post message" button down
This will improve the following aspects of the site:The way it is now:
- When you click the post message button at the most important point in the game where you tell your team what to do and when but your message did not post, so you click it again. Oh, wait....everyone can see that message. Now this game that took 100 rounds is pointless and we lose. That was stupid. What happened?
- What happened is, you clicked the button too high and it clicked that text that you had no idea could uncheck the box so you just clicked "post message" again real fast before you saw the box unchecked.
- It's too close and needs to be moved. I know so many people that have done this. And I have seen it cost games. I know it’s a small detail but I’m sure its easy to fix.

I think it's a hoot when the other team tips their hand in the game chat. It may be slightly embarassing at times, but I have never seen this king of mistake alter the outcome of a game.
A good habit is to click the teamates only box first before typing a single word...
so there's no chance of revealing your secret plans to your opponents.

I am definitely against making it "unclickable". I LIKE to use this to throw MIS-information at the other team. Come on folks...seriously, you're not thinking sneaky enough!
Not only that...if you've unclicked it and it screwed you up, that really comes down to your own carelessness being the problem.

Are you simply suggesting to swap the position of the check box and the text box? If so, then why complicate the idea with suggestions of making things unclickable?
Switching the position of the two makes a bit of sense... but I don't know how much of a priority it is. Besides, misinformation and counter-intelligence is a vital part of any war

Ideally, there would be 2 separate buttons -- one for "post public", another for "post confidential". This would serve the same purpose as having 2 buttons for "attack" and "auto". Default (hit 'return') would be confidential, as it is now.

I guess I’m not making this clear. You are all misunderstanding what I am saying. And I think I know why. The first thing you have to understand is what most people don’t know. And that is, the actual text that says “show this message to teammates only” and “note to self” is clickable. You don’t have to click the small box. You can click anywhere on that whole line of text for the box to become unchecked or checked.
And that’s the problem. Because the post message button is so close to the TEXT above if you click the post message button too high and actually click the text, the check mark will go away. And what most people do is just click post message again real fast and never notice that the box got unchecked. They never knew that clicking the text could uncheck the box.
I understand that you need to tell the other team things during the game. I want everything to stay the same except the “post message” button be moved down a bit or over or something.
If not, we need to at least make the actual text unclickable and make you only be able to click the small box to the left.
I hope this clears thing up.

Yes there is. And that box is auto checked to stat with anyway. Refer to my above post to understand that the TEXT above that button is clickable.

Thats an interesting problem. Never heard it before but I see exactly what you're saying.
It wouldn't be hard to remove the link from the text. After doing that you could enlarge the checkbox a bit so people would still have easy clicking, and move it to the left so it is not so close to the "Post" button

No, for real how do we make it happen? It seems like there are so many post on here they would never get to something like this. It's not a big deal but i know its easy to fix.

Field labels are clickable on all fields on all CC pages, that's a web design standard.
I don't think shifting the button to the right will help much, you can still miss-click.
Perhaps someone can add a chat post confirmation to one of those greasemonkey scripts for people who miss-click?

Do you think you could move the "post message" button down a bit?
The confirmation thing would bug me and I don't think I would turn it on. But it would help with the problem.

I've suggested this before and will again, now.
Have a [delete last statement] button, then any mistake can be removed before anyone else has read it.
However there is an easy solution to this problem,

Get yourself into the habit of hitting the [ENTER] button on your keypad rather than clicking the [Post Message] button.

Yeah that works and I do that now. But, it wont change the fact that people don't know the text is clickable and it will continue to happen. I dont want to get this fixed for me. I know the text is clickable and why that message to teammates only just went out to everyone. I was just trying to make it better for everyone else. Call me stupid but it took me like 10 times before I figured out the text was clickable and why that was happening.
I don't like the idea of people deleting messages that have been posted. For agreements and alliances there needs to be a record of what was said. To put a time limit on it or something like that seems like too much trouble. But don't get me wrong, when I miss a letter or something, yeah it would be cool to delete the message.
Seems like the best fix to this specific problem is to just move the button down. Or you could put the button at the end of the type line. So, horizontal to the message type line. That way you wont make the actual page any longer by moving it down. The point is to get it away from the clickable text.

Hey, I kind of like the idea of being able to delete an accidental post. Add a 20 second time limit or something to that effect and its a great suggestion with no flaws that I can see (other than the time for implementation).
Low priority, and I have no idea on the difficulty. Probably too high for such an item.

That's a really poor solution to something that is easily fixed by moving the button an inch or two to the right (or, as has been repeatedly suggested, a two button system).

Miss-clicking a tenth of an inch v miss-clicking one (or more) inches... I know which I think will happen most.

I just miss clicked again in another game and I know that the text is clickable. So stupid this button can't be moved.
