Adding an extra player

Postby Juan_Bottom on Tue Jan 27, 2009 9:17 pm

Add 1 more person to triples games

Specifics:
  • Just add 1 more person to triples games to add an extra team, games currently allow 8 players so adding one more player slot to triples games will add a third team.
  • You do not need to add the slot to any other type of game.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • It adds a third team. That alone is an awesome benifit.
  • Three-way clan war anybody?
  • Teams could play Assassin and even (?)Terminator games against other triples teams.

I realize that on some maps this probably wouldn't be possable. I know that there is some math, and probably a lot of work involved here. It just seems silly that we are one slot short of adding a third team.

Good question. What about deep purple? Like the deep blue color?

if you support this idea, then you should support my 9 and 10 player games suggestion
I do believe Natewolfman has suggested the colours for the 9th and 10th player...

"But why not then go to ten people, you could have five person teams and you could also have a five way doubles game?" Just playing a little devil's advocate. Also, I think there is an issue with player colors.
red green blue yellow pink teal orange gray/slate

brown-ish dark green dark blue gold-ish purple turquoise rose another green another green another purple another blue another yellow peach another teal another purple another green another peach

black white/neutral
There need to be 9 (or 10) colors that are easy to distinguish from one another. I have listed the 27 colors that use either "00", "88", or "FF" in their hex representation. (I believe that the dark green that I have listed is actually the one used in games.) After the eighth color, it gets harder to find ones that are distinct.

I apologize for missing the other thread. For some reason I can't do searches with AOL tright now or the computer gives me an "AOL IS NOT RESPONDING" message. I scrolled down the pages but I must have missed it.

I for one think that adding 1 more person to triples games is sensicle. Obviously you have to have a place where you stop adding people and start playing games. And for triples games, that number is 9, not 8.

purple
Provided that the color-blind can see it proporly, this is the color that I would suggest. I think that this color stands out the best. I can tell the difference between this purple, Cyan, Deep Blue, Red and Pink.

Like I said already at 9 and 10 player games (there is a poll the, which now stand at almost 60% for the 9th player option, you can go there and make the number bigger if you like the idea), the best option as I see it is to change pink to magenta (different name for same color) and make the new color purple (which will be m & p the color blinds), but you can use the violet option as well, then there is no need in changes =D>

If we add another player there is the problem with adding another color. It took a long time to go through colors just to add player 7 and player 8. Even after tons of debate in the color forum, people are still not happy. I could only imagine the headache trying to add another.

yeah, 62 of 108 votes is a clear cut majority for the site, and it should be done right away. i mean, 62 total votes for this idea is pretty much a mandate, right? the black jesus has spoken...-0

Indeed, as much a mandate as the 103 yes votes to 70 no votes and 207 postings over some 4 months that I got in my 'no dice' games. (and I still haven't given up on the idea!!)
