new recruits

Concise description:
  • auto multi check on new recruits

Specifics:
  • for each account that is created, it must go through an auto or manual check for multi. Once each account is checked, it will prevent new multi accounts from joining the site and being filtered into the public. It will not catch the current multis but prevent more from joining in the future.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • cut back on multis/cheating
  • cut back on e-tickets reporting multis saving mods time
  • cut back on reports on the cheat/abuse forum saving mods time

I rate this suggestion a 10.0

I would suggest an autocheck, and if the account is linked by IP, then an e-ticket must be filled out. Let's face it, if you are a relative, then will an e-ticket really make you go away from the site?

JR, what if I introduce a friend to the site and he/she signs up from my computer?

Like I said. Send an e-ticket. If they are your friend, I doubt that they will leave just because of the small delay. If they are new, then they won't have to go through the e-ticket.

But his friends wouldn't have a problem, he is a Hunter.

If it is autoated (so that it does not waste mod's time that much), then he'll still have to let his friend play manually, even if he skips the e-ticket step. ;)

JR24 is a genius
best suggestion ive read in a long time

and if your friend signs up you can fill out the e-ticket
being a member yourself you would know that it has to be done and also how to do it

I think the 'Pros' out weigh the 'Cons' on this one. Many sites employ user screening already, it's not as big a deal as it may seem to ask users to verify that the accounts are not being run by the same person.

fill out an e-ticket with the request. mods should keep this on file and randomly check their games to make sure there is no abuse. Perhaps once a month look through their games. Non premiums should not be permitted to have more than 1 account from the same IP.

What if I'm 10 years old and my brother is 10 years old and our parents don't want us having premium?

Please excuse me if my ignorance in this area makes this a moot point, but according to the sign up page, CC regularly scans for multiple accounts. Therefore, wouldn't these two 10 year olds already come up, by banned, then have to fill out an e-ticket?

Don't people already have to go through the e-ticket process if they have multiple people playing from the same computer.

This sounds like a genius idea to me.

Nope. FAQ #13 states "The short answer is yes. Our Multi Hunters are pretty good at distinguishing roommates & family members from people with multiple accounts. However, some members prefer playing only in team games with people from the same computer to avoid accusations of cheating."

Actually I was referring to this point :)

Im going to go out on a limb and say 95% of multis are non premium because they can only have or afford 1 account so they create multiple accounts to play more games. This is a proven fact. So to eliminate this, just simple allow them to only have 1 account per IP. Im not saying all non premiums are cheaters or 2 non premiums from the same IP are cheaters, but from all the bust I made concerning multis, 95% are 2 non premiums from the same IP.

this could have been avoided if we checked IP's from the get go. Take notice it is 2 non premiums.

Bad idea.I sent an E-Ticket on October 31st 2008. It still hasn't been answered.
Family members and friends should be allowed to just sign up. Maybe a small warning when they registar to say that CC Admin has noted 2 players on one IP has been found would be ok.
What exactly do you mean when you say send an E-ticket anyway ?
