Concise description:

add "do not send auto-join links without warning people what they are" to the rules

Specifics:

i was in live chat and someone sent a link and i clicked it and almost got stuck in a game i didnt want to be in...

im pretty sure its against the rules but he probably didnt know that so i dont want to report him

This will improve the following aspects of the site:

everyone would know that its not allowed and it wouldnt happen

I agree that this should probably be in the rules since this technique was used by farmers to lure unsuspecting new players. However, you should never open a link you don't know about. Hopefully you don't open all the attachments in your email

Having said that, good form would be to say what the settings are and even a link to the game (without auto-join) as well. My internal clan tournaments used to be just the join as people trusted me to do the correct thing, however, I now include as much info just in case they forgot what tournament they signed up for.

Generally the pm looks like this:

PM Title Referencing Tournament
Player Name
Game (linked)
Password
Game (auto-linked)

It's not about Deathwind in the fact that it is about everyone. I had no idea it was against the rules, nobody warned me! Making the link different somehow would be nice, in case someone forgot to warn you...

And Deathwind was already warned by Jeff.... another warning was redundant, but I guess he'll never do that again!

i made the suggestion because of auto join links, if i had wanted deathwind to get a warning i wouldve gone to C&A. i was only using what happened in live chat as an example!

its better if this is added to the rules because the community guidelines are too long for everyone to bother to read and it says you dont have to read them if you arent intentionally going to be an asshole, which a lot of the people that send the links arent.

Jeff's warning has prevented Deathwind from using auto links, yours went into the trash can. :lol:

An official warning was/is a good idea. I am just not man enough to admit in in the regular sized font.

Still, unless we can differentiate them somehow, cases like these will most likely still occur. How many people are reading the live chat or the suggestions page?

As I stated in chat, the Rules page is for those severe rules that garner the worst punishments (oftentimes without warning). The Live Chat and Community Guidelines aren't on there because not every member uses those features. If the member wishes to use those features, then those specific rules are clearly accessible on the applicable pages.

hmmm, doesn't mean they all couldn't still be listed on the same page, does it? nope. looks like you'd just have seperate headings and seperate them accordingly. right?
