Challenges

Postby rishaed on Sat Dec 13, 2008 3:32 pm

I and fellow Conquer Club member recently played a game that was due to a challenge....i was wondering if the CC staff could set up an option that allowed a random map choice with a private challenging game where each player has one rematch option...so that if I won in the first game and played a rematch in which my opponent won in the second game i can rematch the CC member so to make a 2-3 round challenge. There would be some rules to this and I would like suggestions if this is passed by CC staff.

*Rule 1: if opponent misses more than 1 turn he cannot declare a rematch if he loses.
*Rule 2: Challenges, depending on how many challengers, can be bumped so the first round is always single, and you can add a partner for every round after.
*Rule 3: If there are more than six people make a tournament.
*Rule 4: Only the person and first challenged person can add partners to challenge.
*Rule 5: Said persons must be active regularly and cannot leave a rating on challenges to prevent bad ratings from opposing side. Note: I think that teammates should be able to leave ratings.
Rule 6: In randomized maps you only know which map you play after you start the game
*Remember that above rules are not set in stone but only suggestions on what the rules should be if so approved by the CC staff. [-o<

Sounds like an interesting idea.

Moving it over to Sugs & Bugs.

It does sound interesting, but having an option like this available for freemiums would really defeat the purpose of Private Games...

I agree, freemiums should be allowed to issue a "public challange", where anyone can accept, but the map and settings would be random.

That could be a good way to work it :-k

So...maybe on the "Start A Game" page at the end of the list there would be a "Random" option that you would only choose the amount of players in the game and the game type (Standard, Termi, Assassin, etc), and then everything else would be randomized when the game started? That could be fun!

I agree with the "randomize" option, but I think it should just fill in settings that aren't chosen (eg. If someone doesn't play with fog, then they could set fog as No and it would randomize everything else)

I agree that the map should be random, but the options should be able to be selected, or if not selected they are randomized to.

Or for those people that only play some of the maps, you could select a bunch and it would choose from those.

i can understand where u are coming from b/c some people do not like some of the maps. I just think that if the mods approve of this we should start looking at the rule aspect of it. I suggested five, but we could and possibly should modify them. Any ideas are welcome on the rule aspect?? I believe this is off to a great start though =D> .

A possible fundamental flaw with the random settings idea :
Could someone not keep making random challenges, and dropping them until they get a good map/settings ??

I think the answer to that question is that you would only know after the game started which map you were playing. good thought though

It's not dying, you've just got to be patient in Sugs and Bugs.

How is that suggestion similar? this one is about random settings and that one is about starting multiple games.

Did you see the word rematch that I quoted? My suggestion is nothing to do with multiple games, but adding a quick link to start an identical game that could be used as a rematch...

the rematch option would be for the parties that are unhappy with the results from maybe a bad drop or something of the sort..in this case the suggestions are not at all similar...sry MrBenn

ok would like some suggs. from a programmer on how difficult it would be to implement this, also taking into consideration earlier posts there could be a limit 4 challenges at a time 4 freemiums like me
