new rating tag checkbox "lucky"

Concise description:
  • add a new checkbox "lucky" in the "explanatory tags" section of the "Leave Rating" page

Specifics:
  • Ever notice how some players seem to always get lucky? Every once in a while I want to give someone a "lucky" tag, but there isn't one. I just proposed this in a game chat, and my opponent had had the same idea -- so I figured the idea might be more popular than I'd thought.

This will improve the following aspect of the site:
  • usefulness of explanatory tags for ratings

Maybe you can't. I can get lucky almost every time I try.

Edit- Upon further review of this short thread. I have concluded that it is, by far, the funniest thread ever. Inadvertent though the humour may be (until my post).

That beckons the question though, do you rate him highly when that happens? ;)

It's an interesting question whether you can, but not one that needs to concern us here -- I don't see why the tags should only pertain to things you can control -- their purpose is to give information about a player. A player may not be able to control her or his slow connection, but still others may want to know that she or he is slow.

What I was saying, though, was that everybody is lucky sometimes. Maybe that one game the guy played with the other guy was focusing all of the luck towards the other guy..then it would eventually even itself out with the guy when he gets lucky a lot in a game. The point is, everyone is lucky; everyone is unlucky.

And a slow connection is completely different..and perhaps should be added as a tag.

There are always people who get lucky nearly all the time.

I understand the desire for the "lucky" tag, but ultimately I think it will just add noise since most of use will be perceived as lucky at some time or another by other players.

I'm hoping/crossing my fingers that at some point something interesting is going to be done with the tags. There was mention in one of the threads in the early days of "tag clouds" which, using my rating tags at the moment as an example could produce something like this:

My tags are currently as follows:
friendly (5)
talkative (1)
quick (3)
trustworthy (1)
brave (1)
good strategy (3)
silent (1)
balanced play (1)

[See my making tags useful thread for discussion of this ...]
